Different article than I read today I will give you that. But while I will give you that it will have forged pistons those sintered rods are just powdered metal which is not the same as truely forged steel. Same crap that was in my 96 Cobra that blew up. And I see no mention of a forged crank. Halfway there in my book. Don't get me wrong....I really what Ford to give us the best but they are way to interested in their pocketbook!!

Thanks for the info Scott..... I wondered what sintered meant. So I guess the 03/04 cobras and the GT500s are the only true forged internals that ford has offered.

What about the R rods Scott? They are listed as Carrillo billet steel connecting rods. How does that. Compare to powder metal or forged steel?

Billet is the best in my opinion. Most of the strongest and most expensive rods are made from billet. Means they are machined from solid. Forged rod are just cheaper to make in mass quantities but are very strong also. Powdered metal is just a better rod than a cast rod but are very brittle. So you got the good **** in the "R" Gary!! But those rods and pistons in your S197 are the cheapest of crap! So don't get greedy with them or it will bit you in the ***. Been there done that!

I'm leaning one way but it may be a while until we move and get settled which is likely a few months away.

It will be a factory SE Mustang, likely with forged internals and a blower.
