Because silly, remember last year I got a deal from a previous forum member on the COMPLETE Borla catback, including overaxle pipes and mufflers for $350. After trying them head to head, with offroad H, catted X, and offroad X I decided the best sound was Borlas with offroad H. Only then did I add the resonators to eliminate the trumpeting.

Had Corsas before I knew Brent..... butthead. By the way I got my gapper back today.


Silly me....with your 14 muffler, midpipe changes and my 12 muffler, midpipe,longtube changes I can't imagine why I forget that!!

So is the off road H-pipe worth putting on or will it just make things sound crappyer????????????.

O yea Hey Tom I sent your gapper back last week.

Well Darrell....Here is what my experience is. Any thing your muffler system does now....drone...trumpet...volume...etc... it will do twice as good or bad without the cats. I know this is not much help but it is the truth. I am sure Tom can add to this......

I thought I'd just give a quick update since it's been over a week since I dropped the car off.....

The Saleen blower is installed.....it currently has a 3.2 pulley (~11 psi). The upgraded heat exchanger is installed, as well as the Saleen Extreme inlet pipe and Steeda cai. The GT500 fuel system is going in tomorrow; with the added fuel pressure Dave was concerned about the tap that I made into the fuel rail crossover hose for my fuel pressure sender unit, so he installed a new set of factory fuel rails and crossover tube. Onto the new rails he is going to install a Steeda fuel pressure gauge adaptor, so it should be a clean look.

The install should be complete tomorrow, and then tuning begins on the dyno. We are swapping my hood and modified shaker setup for a '07 factory hood, since the blower and CDC shaker won't work- Dave confirmed this today. So I'll have my choice of add-on scoop or maybe a replacement hood this spring.

The trumpeting that Tom is talking about is what I am calling ragged sounding. I have also used the term cackle to discribe the same sound. This trumpeting shows up big time after you lose the cats. And now I believe it is even further amplified by the longtubes. Hope this helps.

So your going to drive it with a hole in hood or leave the hood off and go ''Old School''...

I think I'm going to keep this setup for the time being. I'm thinking the in-car sound is different between the coups & verts. I really am getting used to it, or I'm not hearing the same as your are in yours. Mine does get a little 'raspy' above 3K, but I only notice it when shifting.
Overall,I'm happy with it for now.
Still going to wait until it warms up & I can hear it with some windows open.

DLY,
I'll compromise on the muscle car sound as long as it doesn't drone. I did like the tone the IMCO's had,but I just can't handle the drone myself I guess my hearing isn't completly gone yet

They do have a different sound to them..... hard to describe, but you know what I'm saying. I liked them alot overall, just wanted to run the offroad H and with that, the Borlas sounded better. Plus I got a killer deal on the Borla system.

There is a '07 Vista Blue hood waiting for me at Brenspeed....... no need to go hoodless or drive with the hole in the hood.

Here is what you should sound like going down the road. Ryan (Cali HP Addict) is running the exact same setup as we are except his headers are ARH. And I don't believe the brand of longtube makes any difference. He didn't much care for the sound the GTA's made with the longtubes. Way too loud and raspy for his tastes. That is when he tried the Magnaflows. With a stock H-pipe and stock cats he said it would have been way too quiet with them. But with the longtubes he said there is plenty of attitude and volume with absoulutely NO drone. He has a few clips with the Mags on and it does sound "mellow and low toned" This is personally what I am looking for out of my exhaust. I know we all like different things but I am going to try the Magnaflows next. And you are right I am sure the sounds I hear in my Vert are a lot more pronounced then what you hear in your coupe!

Nope...I have asked everyone and everywhere and have even been to Magnaflows website and all I can find out is they are made from SS. What kind? Brought a magnet home from work tonight and thru it in the Stang to take with me on Friday. I guess I will find out then!!

I hope their 304, but it seems most manufactures state the fact when they can, I've had no luck finding out either ! if there not, you still going to get them? or will the tomgun281 discount be to good to turn down?

No...I am going to still get them. Unless after I talk to Brent about what my goals are there is a better or different option. And I have to agree that most manufacturers will claim about them being made from 304 SS and that is not the case here. Seems like a waste of time to polish something that will be rusting in 6 months but I guess that is just marketing hype. So has all of my gloom and doom about an off road H-pipe raised any questions in your feeble, oldtimers mind?

Yep! For some reason I really want to take the factory cats off! My motor mounts have been shipped! I was hoping to have made some decision on O/R pipe by the time the mounts get here! I was wanting to make one trip under and get both done! When I was a young guy in High School working in the family suspension business I dug being under a car but it doesn't lite my fire anymore!..

I find this very interesting Darrell. I actually took some measurements of the drivers sit headrest in my car last fall. Since we have a waterjet at work and all kinds of aluminum laying around I made one piece for my drivers seat. You have to remember I have a Vert and the attachment point for my seat belts is a lot lower than you coupe guys. I didn't like the angle or the bind it put my belt in. I believe these are really a great mod for you coupe guys but they are not made right for us Vert guys. Thanks for thinking about me though!!

1. How loud is the SUNAMI?
The SUNAMI is as loud as it should be to simulate the closest sound of a blow off valve. The SUNAMI comes with a volume control ****, which may be used to set the volume to your desired level. If we recorder the sound onto the memory chip at a higher volume, you will experience a bit of distortion as well as an unrealistic image. After installation, ask a friend to drive the SUNAMI equipped vehicle, while you are standing on the side of the road. By doing so, you will know exactly what your vehicle sounds like to the outside world.
2. How long does it take to install the SUNAMI?
It will take an average of 45 minutes to install the SUNAMI. The wiring is very simple because there are only two wires which need to be connected to the vehicle – the red, positive, wire and the black, negative, wire. The rest of the time is spent on running two pairs of wires through the firewall and into the engine compartment. One pair will be connected to the sirens and the other pair will be connected to the vacuum pressure switch.
3. How does the SUNAMI trigger the blow off valve sound?
The SUNAMI may be triggered either manually or automatically. The override push button, which is installed inside the vehicle, will the trigger the blow off valve sound every time it is pressed. You may trigger the sound once every five seconds, however. In another words, you cannot trigger the blow off valve sound twice within five seconds with the manual override pushbutton. The SUNAMI may also be triggered automatically with the supplied vacuum pressure switch. This switch is highly sophisticated and made with precision. Once the vacuum switch is tuned exactly to your liking, the SUNAMI will trigger the blow off valve sound every time you reach the set boost level and slightly lift your foot off the gas pedal; just like a real turbo equipped vehicle. After installing the vacuum pressure switch, you must “learn” the characteristics of your individual vehicle, and “feel” the moment you would like to trigger the SUNAMI.
4. Will the SUNAMI work on any vehicle?
Yes, the SUNAMI will fit any vehicle equipped with vacuum hoses. Almost every single vehicle has multiple vacuum lines.
