Sounds good!
Just guessing here but figure shoot from Deltona to Orlando, then take, what is that - 408?? West to 75, then 75 straight shot up (I go to Atlanta every year and 75 is always easiest for that)

To me at least, seems like best bet is 75 to Atlanta and then 20 straight West.
Depending on traffic- you might wanna exit and take 85s to 65 n instead of 75 to 285 to 20W. Crap -nevermind. Barber is ON 20.

Looks like that'd be pretty far out of the way for me. I'll be going through Montgomery. Oh well. I'll see ya there anyway.

OK gang - for all folks east of Tampa or heading to I-75 northbound:
I4 exit 22 near Plant City. There's a Burger King at the SE corner of Park Rd & I4. Exit 22 is where the giant Bill Heard Chevy dealership is - huge sign on the right as you're exiting the interstate. Time to meet is open, though Burke0011 and I have been thinking around the 7am-730am time frame, then head west to I-75 northbound. Also, anyone who would want to caravan with him, there's a rest stop in Lakeland that's convenient. So pipe up and speak your mind - we're open to suggestions. I think it would be pure Mustang nirvana to have a group of 12 or more S197's headed up the interstate. Either way, Dave and I will be at the BK ready to roll by 730am on 8/31/06!!

Alabama's not far from here, so I might be interested in going. I won't know for sure until it gets closer to September, though. Is there a possibility that hotels may sell out by September? I may go ahead and reserve a room, and if I couldn't go maybe someone else who decided to go late might need it.

Mapquest says Birmingham is about 7 hours from here(Lafayette, Louisiana). With the way I drive I could probably cut that down to 5.

Well this will be a drive from Akron, but I am pretty sure that you can count me in. It will just depend on if I can get the vacation time then.

I reserved my room today, thanks to the head's up from both Dave's. Me and the wife will be there for sure. I am really looking forward to it... and my wife's actually looking forward to it too. Maybe that experience with help her understand my passion for my car, and for Mustangs in general. And who knows, maybe open up some doors to getting me a little more mod money in the future.

I brought up the idea of the Florida guys meeting us Louisiana guys (and maybe the ones from Texas, Mississippi, southern AL, etc.) in Montgomery, AL. And then all of us could drive the hour or so up to Birmingham in a big caravan Thursday afternoon. I believe the check-in time is 3 pm. I know Jason (StangNut) should be going up through Montgomery for sure.

I'd like to set up a caravan for any Texas members and southern Louisiana guys too to meet up near New Orleans. Anyone who is planning on going and taking I-10 east through to New Orleans and then up I-59 to Alabama, send me a PM and we'll try to set up a meeting point and time.

Ditto on the part of meeting everyone!

Luckily for me I have taken care of my wife and even sold my Mustang last year to make the wife happy. Now she wants to return the favor, she is saving money from her paycheck for mods to the Shelby. She wants me to get the stripes painted and an alarm first thing.

...I love my wife!!

My wife will be with me as well and doesn't understand my infatuation with my car, but she supports me

Hey that sounds like a good idea - I'm all about diversions (my wife says I'm all about perversions . My other brother Dave sent me an email and your option #2 (Go up to I-10 and take that west to around Dothan Alabama and get on Highway 231 north up to Montgomery (total of approx. 480 miles from Tampa to Montgomery) and then take I-65 up north to Birmingham (approx. 90 miles) for a total of 570 miles) sounds like a winner for 2 reasons:
1. Less miles
2. More importantly - more Stangs for the carvavan!

I figure we could all meet there in Montgomery and grab a bite then head to Birmingham.
This is gonna be awesome to say the least.

Yall watch out for 231 though- its a speed trap.
When the speed limit goes down to 35 in those little towns- you better too.
And smell me some salt air too- 231 is my most favorite vacation route.
