What Inspired Your Color Choice?
Like others, I didn't want the over the top look at me (PLEASE don't take this the wrong way) of red (fire truck) or yellow (Taxi); ,White and Lime were out of the question for me so I had narrowed to MG or SS and when I was ordering I just decided I wanted silver more. I was fantasizing the other day about how nice it would be to be able to have a different color for every day of the week !
Here's how it went and it was a tough call ...I origionally wanted silver with ICAP but after seeing the 04 satin silver it was not the shade of silver that I wanted (satins to light for me ) .If it was a darker silver with metallics then it would of happened ,so ....now what do I get ?
I can't get windville blue every car that was that color literally was a lemon(love the color but it doesn't like me).
I've had a black ford before and I really don't want to clean it all the time to make it look good .
I had a screaming yellow 69 charger and it was a blast but not for the stang .
white would be ok ..with blue stripes ...cool but not for me.
torch red and redfire ...almost went redfire ,all my friends love the color and was one of my top picks with silver but it was not meant to be.
Sonic blue ...a one year color ,very cool one of my top picks and almost ordered it ...but to dark of a color ...sort of fell in the black catagory to me .
Mineral grey ..a neat color but it just wasn't me .
And then Legendary Lime a cool green silver /gold ...light color will look clean when not ,one year only color (at least at the time I ordered it ) even when it fades it will still look about the same (the reason redfire and sonic got knocked out ) and I have to live with it for about 20 years ..thats how long I would like to have this car if possible .When I go into retirement this will be my restoration and weekend driver car .

My story is similar to Paul's in that the exterior color choice was a byproduct of the interior color. From the moment I went to look at '05's at the lot and saw a black/ black/ red vert, I was pretty sure I would have to have one
The red interior was a must, so that limited the exterior colors. I looked at all the body colors and for me the red interior has the biggest visual impact when coupled with the black exterior. I also like black because the plastic parts (mirrors, panels below doors, etc.) blend in. Yes, black is harder to care for. But I garage it at work and home, so it stays clean for quite a while. And when it's clean, it's very dramatic looking.
==Then I headed over to the dealer the next day and when we were filling out the order sheet he confirmed I wanted silver and for some reason I blurted out, "Windveil Blue, please."==
That is spooky, my wife did the exact same thing and I've never heard anyone else say they had done that until now. It was many years ago and she was buying her first new car, a BLUE Honda Civic. She talked about it for weeks, how bad she wanted a blue one. She walked in, they asked what color she wanted to look at and she blurted out "red". And that's what she bought. To this day she doesn't know why she had the change of heart! We had that Civic for 10 years. Her next car was black, next white, then finally she got a blue one!

By the way, I think all of the stang colors are awesome. There is not a single color that I wouldn't be proud to own, they did a fantastic job on the colors.
It would be interesting to hear what your previous car colors were for comparison. I've owned (in order):
Dark grey, light green, dark green, black, orange, white, dark blue, light grey, white again, dark blue again, silver, dark blue yet again, purple, and finally the black stang. You know, until listing this I hadn't realized how varied my color choices have been. I wonder what Freud would say?

I've gone back and forth between silver and blue cars for the past 10 years. The years before that, I drove green, gold, black, aqua, brown, white and red cars (the latter being a '58 Oldsmobile Super 88... it was a weekend cruiser so it doesn't count). What can I say? I like variety!
My last 3 cars have been various shades of blue, though. And I was getting tired of hearing people say "Boy, Chris sure does like those blue cars!"

You know, you really can't go wrong picking any of the available colors; the car turns heads regardless of the color of it's skin!
Performance White......I'd looked at the reds(which I've always said I wanted a red car, but never got one), then the yellow....I just love yellow......no to black..too hard to keep clean, out of question on the blues and green, silvers....maybe....but the more I saw of the white GT that was on the car lot, the more I loved it. It just looked soooo clean.
Not flashy. And I do get lots of looks from everybody. Haven't seen another white GT on the road yet! My husband actually suggested we go for the white. I resisted at first, but quickly changed my mind....so glad I did.....White GT with Light Graphite Interior...SWEET!!!

LOL! Sounds like you have been too based on your list of previous colors
==How much would it cost to get the whole exterior of one of these 05's painted as an aftermarket thing?==
Bad paint job- 400 to 500. Really nice paint job (remove trim, paint jambs, under hood, in trunk, etc.) 3000 to 4000. Top notch show paint job in lacquer, hmmmm.... maybe 8k? Color changes are tough to do right. It costs some bucks.

Firstly, I love all the colors on the 05. I thought the WB and Screaming Yellow were EH..... until I saw in person and was like
Everything looks great on this car!
Anyway, the ZX2 I'd had for the past 4 years was Blue..... my 88 GT had been red.... so looking at the colors, I ended up thinking about Black (have always wanted a black car), Satin Silver (my 79 Cutlass was silver but the 05 looks so good in that) and mineral gray.
The redfire looks amazing but my brother and sister-in-law's car was already ordered and that's what they were getting.
So I'm rolling it around and around in my brain....... and then I remembered when we lived back in Jersey, my brother got a brand new 1989 Mustang GT convertible in BLACk that was soooo sweet........... ended up with the nickname 'The Dark Knight'.....
And right there, I knew - I went to my brother and said 'Time to carry on the family tradition - and bring in the Dark Knight II....'

Well, I'd pick Emberglo, but alas it's not to be until at least 07.*
And my other would be white with an ALL RED interior, cloth, please. But that's never to be, it would seem.*
So, in closing...
Still no Emberglo.*
/*-although I admit, a substantially large wad of cash could fix these... Donations?

I like attention!
Yellow brings attention cause it pops out in the silver and white world that is most cars here.

Indeed. Change is good. Life is too short to have a similarly-colored car year after year.
Live and learn (eventually!)

I absolutely love Legend Lime. Although I am very enthusiastic about my choice, I don’t feel it’s necessary to trash anyone else’s choice of colors.
I may have been persuaded to choose Legend Lime by a couple of factors:
A. The 1971 Plymouth GTX I restored years ago,
B. My cat’s eye color, (she’d like to think so)
C. It’s an uncommon color,
D. I’ve had so many blue cars in recent years, or
E. It’s easy to spot in a parking lot
Now that you’ve made your choice, what inspired you to choose YOUR color?

First of all, I must admit that I love the new Mustang in almost all colors (the least favorites for me are White and Mineral Grey...) and Legend Lime was among my top choices.
The choice for me was really between Legend Lime, Windveil Blue and Sonic Blue.
Seen that I really like retro colors, as I feel they really go along perfectly with the retro design of the 'Stang, at the end the race was among LL and Windveil Blue.
To help my choice was the fact that when I decided last january to order my GT, I was told that for several problems, I would have to wait at least 4 months, maybe more. At that moment I decided not to order one but instead to just check all over MA, NH and RI for a GT already on the lot and with all the options I wanted (Active Alarm, IUP, Auto, Side Airbags) in either LL or WB. In all of these three states, I was only able to find one car (at a dealership about 30 miles from where I live) in one of my two top choice colors and with the optionals I wanted. I also had found only one other car that suited my likings, but this time in Torch Red and at a dealership about 100 miles away from my home, still in MA. None in RI and NH.
Even though I was willing to compromise and even get the Torch Red GT in case the dealership that had the LL GT had any markup on the car (and I was expecting that, as in all dealerships at the time all GT's where 2k to 5k above MSRP...and people were buying them), I was so happy to discover that this dealership, Metro Ford in Raynham, was selling it at MSRP.
As soon as the salesman confirmed to me for the third time (!!!) that there were no markups and that the car had no miles on it, I drove down there and it was no easy task as, unfortunately as usual, here in MA we were having a nasty snowstorm, saw the car, gave them a deposit and got it a couple of days later, just in time to avoid a Northeastern that put down 2 feet of snow (it started half an hour after I put my "baby" in my garage...phew)...
I admit though that had I found a WB GT, it would have been a tough choice.
I am anyway extremely happy to have gotten my car in LL: it looks beautiful, it's mega retro (just the way I like), the feedback from everyone that sees the car is just incredible and I have no regrets at all.
The best would be to have a vert in WB, but hey ... perfection is not of this world, isn't it ?
