Hopefully its not as sensitive as the computer. otherwise a half a pound would cause the alarm to sound. Could they make the system driver adjustable? Set limits for when the alarm goes off?

BTW FORD STILL DOES NOT HAVE THE 20" Straps! But there are Some Aftermarket Companies Making Them!

Just to add some info about operating without the sensors. I just got an 07 GT and swapped out the stock 17" wheels for some aftermarket 18" wheels without sensors before I found out about the TPMS issue. After about 50 miles I got a fault message, but, the good news is all I have to do is press reset to clear the message. The warning light below the tack also goes out after a few seconds. You have to do this evey time you start up, but at least I can drive it until I can get the sensors for the 18" wheels.

some days i get a sensor fault and other days its fine. i would rather not have a tire sensor at all. I know i should take the car in have the dealer fix it, but i hate to be without my car. On days when it acts up, i press the reset button to shut it up.
The tire pressure sensor and the heated seats i could do without.

After living without the sensors for seveal hundred miles now, for me ayway they're pretty much a non issue. I do get a fault message from time to time but it's easily cleared with the reset button. Since new sensors for my 18" wheels are in the area of $165 plus another $75 or so to have them installed (dismount tires, install, remount and balance) I think I can live with pressing the reset button every once in a while.

Does anyone know what causes a Tire Pressure Sensor Fault? It comes and it goes. I'll have a Fault, and then it will go away overnight and be gone for a week or more, only to show up again. Dang I just hate taking something for repair and saying "yeah it's working now, but trust me 2 days ago it wasn't".

Not sure why they would measure tire speed...they would have to be pretty sensitive to measure any differences in speed for low vs. normal tires. That would be almost undetectable. There is pressure sensors inside the rims, they measure each tire pressure compared to the other 3 tires. Theoretically, if all 4 tires went flat at the same time and at the same rate, the system would not detect it. Chances of that are slim to none though.

The government mandated these to protect idiots from themselves. People who drive on severally low pressure for extended periods of time. Therefore these new systems measure the actual pressure of each tire and do not compare it to the other tires.
