Tire Pressure Sensor worked!

I know a lot of people hate them....but let me say, the other morning as I got into my car in the garage......I noticed the sensor came on...I had a nail in one of my tires that I must have gotten just before I came home the night before.

With all the rushing around of the morning commute...I would have been driving around on a flat without that nice notification.

I could have been a real headache...a blowout/flat/shreaded tire in Atlanta rush hour traffic!! And I have only made 1 payment on this baby.

I for one...am glad it is there.

My 2 cents!

I like 'em too. I picked up a nail and wouldn't have noticed the problem had it not been for the TPMS.

Fordman, be aware, several guys with vettes that run the track have been blowing out the rubber gasket that seals then in the valve stem hole. The rubber cant take the heat build up. Most have gone to an aftermarket band system like the Mustangs n such.

Also we found out the hardway the factory band is not reusable once removed. The replacement band kevin mentioned are like a big hose clamp.

Also wheels can be mounted without the sensors, not illegal. What is illegal is to deactivate the light on the dash. This goes for tuners.

Kevin, do you have pictures of these sensors and straps? What parts need to be replaced when swapping wheels, as I may do a wheel swap with someone who has an '07 so I am wondering what he will need to keep his TPMS (same diameter rim)

Lol, vettes orignally had the band clamp style TPMS, they are color coded too. I wonder though if Ford decided on using the band clamp sensor for just such a reason? Either style is fairly easy to work with when it comes to mounting or dismounting a tire. The real pain in the **** is putting the dang things in learn mode when you rotate the tires or if you mount new tires and forget to mark the wheels, forcing you to set the sensors in learn mode for the new postions.

I just got new wheels for my car, WedSport TC005's from Tire Rack. The tech said I could use the original sensors but would have to buy new bands. The bands from tire rack cost $219.96 for four. This was for an 18 inch wheel. If I went with four new sensors and bands it would have added an additional $455.96 to the price of the wheels.

So, anyone figure out how to get this worthless crap off of the car? I know I don't want it on my 07. I have a $.99 tool that does this for me.

Not at this time. Its a federal mandated feature
To deactivate it would be a crime! But so is running no cats

That .99 tool is also a worthless piece of crap. Do yourself a favor and get a nice digital pressure gauge. Far more accurate and they dont wear out or are affected by the environment like a mechanical gauge is.

Does anyone know if you can program 8 sensors to one car. I am getting new wheels and would like to put sensors in them and use the originals for winter time without having to change them back and forth.

i think his point is that he can monitor the pressure himself, and doesnt need the car to do it for him.

a good tire pressure gauge is a good investment

FYI, The OE Straps Which Come on the Car are Not Reusable. They Are Banded. The Service Replacement Straps are a Worm Gear and Can Be Reused. I had Never Seen The OE Straps Until a Local Customer Brought His in Looking For New Straps.
