Yeah, that's a good idea Stadifer.

But it might be cheaper and easier for Ford just to put a different exhaust on the V6. Like I said before.....

"There was another post about how Ford linited the HP of the V6 by putting a smaller exhaust on it then they could have. They ddidn't want it stealing too many sales from the GT....."

Maybe it would be cool if Ford came out with a V6 that had more HP then the regular V6? Say, a performance package with better exhaust that gave another 40 HP, and bigger wheels/tires then the regular V6? For less money then the GT, but more then the regular V6?

What do you guys think?

This is why the aftermarket companies are in business.

The GT will always be better then the standard V6 and Ford will make the HP way lower then the GT because if they put it at 250 hp then it would not be worth it for the GT.

Buy the V6 and take the 5000 you saved and but it into new wheels, exhaust etc. but it still will cost you more to get it up to the GT perforamnce standard, so in that respect it is worth it to get the GT.

V6's bowe down to the GT's :worship:

All Mustangs are worthy.
I think I would just pay $5000 extra for that sweet sound coming from the exhaust.
I believe in this theory as well. The V6 with a new exhaust will never have the deep throaty sound of the V8.

People, please, I hope it hasn't been that long since $5,000 mean't so little to you that you would dismiss it so lightly.

That much scratch would buy you a 50" plasma TV for your living room, pay my rent for 4 months, buy a new Apple G5 with a 30" screen, vacation for two someplace REALLY nice, or even buy you a used car you could expect 2-3 years from.

That said, personally I wouldn't bother getting a Mustang WITHOUT a V8, but there is room in 'Stangworld for everyone.

If I just had my v8, I would spend $600/mo more in gas alone than I currently pay for my beater, it's gas, and it's insurance with the amount of driving that I do. If there's a number that you couldn't argue with, that should be it.
$600/mo MORE in gas??? OMG how much driving do you do?
About 1,000 per week. That is 5 tanks of gas in the mustang vs 2 in the cavalier each week. During the summer months, I need to cut the gas with 100 octane due to the heat and the fact that we get the really bad 91 octane stuff from CA. The mustang costs $80 to fill up during the summer; the cavalier is $15.
