God I get so sick of hearing that. Ever see the sticker on one of those cars?Like I told a Chrysler dealer... Why would I want to pay more money to go slower! I could slap a nice blower in a Stang and still come out cheaper!

Someone said something about paying more to go slower. This is one of my biggest things. Why would I pay $55k to buy a Corvette, when I could go buy a Mustang and customize it big time for $50k and make it faster than any Corvette.

S197 can't be compared to a C6 Vette. Vette is a race car techology, where S197 (including GT500) is from the age of horse carriages. Ford engine tech is great though. Still I'd rather drive S197, cause Vettes look so gay.

Its all in the mods.. you can spend 5 grand on mods for the srt-8 and be LUCKY if you get a 30hp raise... everything fights you along the way, I simply GAVE UP on the r/t, it was pointless.. and the srt8 is even worst, I know a guy that did a head/cam swap and gained something like 30-35hp.. lol.....

Respect these cars for what they are, not what you want them to be.
The srt-8 is FAST, like it or not, its a fast 4 door family muscle car that WILL eat you up stock, oh, and it looks fcking badass so dont be a hater
Thanks for confirming that general MOD issue - I had thought I had HEARD that about the Chargers...... don't they have one of those trannys that is 'manumatic' opr whatever - auto but you can slap shift it yourself if you want?

My issue is I just hate the attitude that most folks I have run into driving either the RT or the SRT 8 seem to have. (the whole HEEEEMIIII thing....)Then again, I ran into a guy in a silver S197 GT a few weeks back who thought he was hot s**t in afterwork traffic and kept trying to taunt me, acclerating and juking back and forth - takes all kinds!

I will say the LS2 GTOs are bada** up top - a year ago, when I still had my black auto 05 (bolts ons etc - low 13 ets), some guy in one tempted me into going from a roll at about 80 or so on the interstate - I hung with him for about 2 seconds and then he walked me like nothing.

An 80 MPH roll?? Come on, man. Did you guys think you were driving a Supra and Skyline GT-R?

I don't know about us vs a GTO. My best friend has an 05 GTO M6 and he can just crush me. It feels much stronger all along the powerband. While I love my car and wouldn't think of getting GTO (styling ftw) I probably wouldn't try to goad one into a race.

Heh, no we are both bone stock. While I have been toying with the idea of getting a CAI and tune, I am kinda paranoid about doing stuff I don't know anything about. Sooner or later you'll see a post from me asking for advice about what to get and how exactly it goes on, but for now, reflooring my master bedroom has to take precedence.

well, a CAI and tune will really wake your car up. It makes a BIG difference for around $600, and it's EASY!

It's so easy a caveman could do it!!!
