Just curious what everyone does here for a living. What do you do to pay for you hobby and all the mods?
It would be interesting to know what everyone’s professional endeavors are.

Me, you ask?
I am a mechanical engineer by trade. 20 + years.
I am now out of work. The company I worked for closed operations in Michigan.
I had my car exactly 2 weeks and a day and I got the boot and a tiny severance package. I have a pretty hot prospect in the works, I will find out next Thursday at interview number 4.

Mods, move if you must.

Man do I ever feel your pain, a Michigander myself, I started with Ford in the late 70's got laid off, worked for another company, they decided to close down operations, worked for another company that no longer needed me,( my wife was then pregnant) then worked for a company owned by Bill Davidson aka Detroit Pistons and then he decided to pull the plug on the operation because he got bored with it (we were making money by the way). Now I work as an IT guy at U of M Hospital. Would be retireing from Ford now if I still had that job. Michigan is not great place for jobs.

I am the national business development manager for a mid size Environmental/Construction Services company headquartered here in Toledo, OH and with offices in 18 cities worldwide. 39 years young and working on my 5th stang, which is my present '05 gt. I paid for most of the car with the proceeds from selling off my 95 gt vert. The rest I have on a low interest equity line. I love the car the way it is pretty much (maybe rims and tire later on) so I am leaving it stock.

Michigan too, Now a Carpenter out work 80% of the last three years. My wife pays for most items and I'm very good at building what we want and repairing most anything mechanical we own. I'm a very good DIY'er. People I know just do not need much side work done anymore.

I could have retired now myself from Ford. At the time the production work was too demanding physically for my medium body joints. not that didn't like the work, my body did not agree.
I do not even look at this time, nothing much happening for unempolyed here.

I've been employed at West Georgia Health Systems for 26 yrs as a Registered Radiologic Technologist. (I take X-Rays). My position is Supervisor of Special Procedures, meaning we do invasive procedures, ie.....unclot dialysis grafts, insert dialysis catheters, long term IV catheters, xrays of the arteries and veins of any body part, insert catheters for drainage purposes, permanent IV ports, filters for blood clots, the list goes on and on. There's a variety all the time in this job, although it can be very stressful at times. But it's a very rewarding job.....we enjoy helping people get better.

Paralegal for 16 years now working at a large firm in Austin, Texas. Previously worked at a firm in Irvine, California (8 years) and a firm in Anchorage, Alaska for 5 1/2 years. Put down a little over half with cash, financed the rest with a low APR.

For now, my GT remains stock (the wife was, well - let's say, not overly enthused at my purchase of the Mustang). She is a little concerned b/c our last new car was my 2003 Silverado 2500HD. She has a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe (paid off). She has informed me that before I can start modding my GT - we will buy her a new car. She also made it clear that her next car will be of her choice and money doesn't matter. I am a little nervous as to what she may get next year. I'm guessing she wants a Cadillac Escalade - OUCH!

But I have my GT, so life is good

Machine shop onwer/operator (own with brother and cousins). We deal mostly with industrial plastics and metals. Been doing that since I was about 6 years old (I can vividly remember playing with my toys beside a Bridgeport milling machine). I did give Uncle Sam 10 years in his Canoe Club (Navy it's not just a job but sheer drudgery!). I am 39 getting ready to wave by at 40 and I have four (yes 4!!!!) kids, 2 of which are teens.

My car is my last Huraahh before my kids start cycling thru college.

I've been working "full time" at a movie theatre for the past year and a half (my past jobs were video store, movie theatre-closed, video store)... I'm living at home until I finish school, so 90% of my income goes into my car. Hopefully with this Loews-AMC merger (buyout) more opportunities will open up. My weekends are non-existant (at work) and I still have at least 2 years of school left... Does anyone have accelerated programs for engineering classes? I certainly don't need 4 months to learn 5 equations

Electronics engineer for a semiconductor manufacturer (ADI) in Silicon Valley. So far I have been lucky and survived through half a dozen layoffs and restructering

Managed to pay for most of my pony with stock options but the options I have left are all underwater so the 9thPony will probably be my LastPony for a long while :bang: . Not that I'm complaining though - I don't think I will even want a new pony for a very long time either even if I had the spare cash.

Financial Systems Administrator at the US Department of State Global Financial Service Center here in Charleston, SC. Just started this job about a month ago after 3 years of service at the US Department of State Passport production facility (right next door) as a field tech in charge of repairs to the passport printers and other specialized equipment. My wife still works over at passport.

Computer programmer here. Currently supporting a J2EE web application used to manage clinical drug trials for a major pharmaceutical company.

Paid cash for the '05 after selling the '95 GT outright for $4500. I've always paid cash for cars, but this is the first new car I've bought since buying a new 1984 Z28. The only cars I bought in between were two used Mustang GTs - an '87 for $7000, and the '95 for $13,000. Both had slightly over 20K miles on them when I bought 'em.

Sales Engineer for large telecom company designing voice and data networks. Spent 10 years in the Navy as a Machinist Mate working in main propulsion. Spent a couple years as a stockbroker and mortgage broker. I love my GT vert and probably will keep it completely stock. It is a fair weather car for now. I don't even know if my windshield wipers work.
