Went to my dealer the day after the order banks opened...Sales guy and Manager told me they couldn' order till Ford notified them about their allocation...They took down my information and told me they would put my order in as soon as they could...It turns out that they didnt place my order till August and I'm like the 4th in line. No big deal to me...im a patient person. So I call the salegs Mgr today and he tells me still no VIN but the car WILL be in by mid of Oct. I told him that I know people who ordered the car in Sep that have VIN's. Then he says, "don't believe those people on the internet, hold on a sec let me check...oh you know what, i'm very busy call tomorrow or something." I'm beginning to think I should have gone elsewhere to order. There's no way its gonna be in mid Oct if it doesn't even have a VIN yet and he knows it. I think he knows they already got my sale and don't want to do anything except collect payment from me when the car does finallt come in. The guy was giving me attitude like he didn't want to be bothered, all I was asking for was the VIN if it had one. Maybe I'm over reacting though. Sorry had to rant a little there. I feel much better now

 

AZOmae, looks like both our cars are gonna be built the same day. My build date is also 10/18, and the last six of VIN are 109278. Btw, I put my order in to my dealer in late May, and just got my VIN and build date last week. I was really starting to get upset about the holdup on my status!

What did you order?

I asked my dealer about the IUP holdup, and he told me that I did my homework. I just told him, "no, I just keep going to that forum that you won't go to."

May? And I thought I was going nuts from August!!

 

I ordered the exact same car as you. Only difference is I got the 5-speed manual. I also got the side-air bags, I didn't see that mentioned in yours. Overall, pretty much the same as you!

Yeah, and I was getting pretty close to going postal on my dealer because I wasn't hearing anything!

On a side note, he gave me the pricing for my car (over the phone), he said with the car and options, and the Z-plan discount, I'm looking at $25,530. However, none of that is in writing, which I should go to him and request that.

 

Ditto.....If your dealer put a priority of say, 50 or 60 on the order, then all other cars lower will be built and sent to him before yours. I am guessing he has alot of 04 stock on the lot and doesn't care when you get your car. IMO [/b][/quote]
They do have 5 04's on their lot still. I left a message for the dealer to call me with an update. If he still doesn't have a VIN It could be because I am in Canada but at this rate it will be December before I get the car.

 

Or at least an email.
That's how I've been doing most of my business with my internet sales manager at the dealership.
