Just ordered a 2005 GT today 9/25/04. Is it correct that I should get a Vin number in two weeks? Once I have that is there a place I can go to track the progress? When my 2005 300C was ordered you could talk to the employee on the Brampton site and track progress through Chrysler. Any such animal with Ford?

A woman I work with told me her dealer gave her a website to track her car at the plant. I will try to get the web address on monday.

That web site info will be great. I can't wait. Does the factory site have a web page for the employees like Bramton Ontario does for the 300C? Neat if I could comunicate with the people building the cars.

I wouldn't hold your breath on getting a vin # in 2 weeks. Most of the people on this site who have ordered in August still don't have a vin

I have not heard of very many people who have ordered recently and got vins. From what I am hearing most of the people who have ordered in August and even before, still don't have vins

I wonder if the slow down is on the dealer side. Some are saying one unit a week is all they can order now. Maybe they are putting them in one per week?

I ordered on 9/18 and had a VIN by last Friday. I think things will be moving much faster now that the cars are being produced.

I think you are right . I wonder how many have been built so far. Maybe the first back log has been pushed through and now it is more of a typical pace. What I like most of all is dealers will actually allow you to order a car. I haven't done that since I ordered my 78 Mach 1. Today all they want to do is locate one and have you settle on one that's 95% correct.

I think it depends on what you order, to receive your VIN right away.
Some have ordered without IUP and received their VIN's. But I'm noticing that IUP's are being held up (someone in a different thread said they have material shortages for IUP).

Ordered in Aug. was told 8-10 weeks, but no VIN yet.

Ditto.....If your dealer put a priority of say, 50 or 60 on the order, then all other cars lower will be built and sent to him before yours. I am guessing he has alot of 04 stock on the lot and doesn't care when you get your car. IMO

Who in their right mind wouldnt get IUP?

I guess they wouldn't be in their right mind.
