Has anybody ordered a GT without IUP?

I only like the IUP with the Dark Charcol interior, which is what I ordered. My opinion only.

Don't forget that leather steering wheel and a leather shifter is a lot easier on the hands than vinyl in the summer!

The only reason I really care about the IUP is the extra gauges, which would be a pain to install aftermarket without messing up the look of the vehicle.

The alunminum plate on the dash looks/feels kinda cheesy, and if you haven't seen it in person, don't try to contradict me. I only care mildly about MyColor, and I could make those aluminum scuff plates for free at the machine shop in my building.

I guess the upgrade steering wheel is nice though.

I wonder if the aluminum trim can be taken off the dash revealing the plain factory dash.

In that case, get the IUP and get the benfits of all the little perks of the package and rid yourself of the aluminum you don't like.

I personally love the IUP, although I don't think I will play with MyColor much after the first month, I will still order the car with the package.

I don't think you can pull the aluminum off and get the factory finish. It seemed to be a pretty deep into the dash. The aluminum felt like it was a thin sheet wrapped around a soft foam or plastic block.

I wouldn't get my hopes up about that one.

And personally, I like to push buttons so I'll always mess with the MyColor feature. Of course the color of the car kinda limits your selections a bit, if you want it all to match!

You think that much? The 04 Interior Upgrade Package is $345 us and or $470 cdn

Interior Upgrade Package $345.00

- Aluminum Finish Door Lock Posts
- Center Finish Panel - Grey Metallic Paint
- Shifter Bezel - Grey Metallic Paint
- Aluminum Finish Shift Boot Trim Ring on Manual Transmission Vehicles
- Stainless Steel Foot Rest Assembly
- Stainless Steel Pedals
- GT Leather Shift **** (Mach 1 Keeps Aluminum Shift ****)
- 4-Way Head Restraint
Ah, young grasshopper- you didn't take into account the added electronic features of the IUP. (If MyColor is a "vehicle first", then Ford is definitely making you pay for the R&D costs that went into it)

This is all very strange since my option sheet says leather wrapped steering wheel, but I did not order the IUP. Been rethinking that since it seemed I could not get leather seats without the IUP, and I wanted them.

I think the steering wheel needs the aluminum, but the dash looks like it would reflect light either into your eyes or onto the inside of the windshield when driving, which would stink.

Anyone with more first hand knowledge than myself have an opinion?

Bigger question.... I have a VIN and build date, do I risk anything by making a change now, before Job 1?

I don't know if it's too late to change stuff, but I think the dash will reflect less than the current model year Mustang 99-04. If any of you own that one like myself, you know glossing up the dash (mine's the charcoal color) makes it reflect in the front windshield like crazy.

I would think the Ford engineers thought of this for the aluminum IUP dash too... Ok, I HOPE they did at least, lol

I think the IUP looks gorgeous with the light graphite. My least favorite (in pictures) is the tan. I saw it in person with the dark charcoal and it was very, very nice!
