I agree hats, this is a concern (moreso with T/C). But since that can be deactivated manually, its not that big an issue.
Plus, apparently Ford, in designing the new T/C system, has made it more sophisticated so that it will know if the driver is trying to accelerate hard vs. losing traction (or so they implied). I guess we'll have to test it out ourselves.

T/C and ABS is fine for the person that don't know how to drive but for me I do, and I don't like the car telling me what it wants to do and not what I want to do.

I'm not saying that ABS is overrated -- it has it's place. It allows people to brake when cornering (which they shouldn't). Some situations require it to happen and I'm glad its there when that situation arises. It also helpful for people who over react to a situation, but I think this comes in a large part to a lack of understanding of what the car is capable of doing.
There have been many times where I've watched/listened to the car behind me come to a screaching halt with the ABS because they couldn't apply the brake in a nice manner -- BTW, people forget the most important aspect of stoping a car: the tires. They make a huge difference in how quickly you can stop your car!

in an 01 you should be able to turn off the T/C with the push of a button
and I will vouch for ABS.....it saved my car when someone pulled out in front of me if I didn't have it I sould've slid right into that mini van

I think the most important aspect of stopping is paying attention to what's in front of you and leaving enough space, but I know you're weren't talking about that.
Tires are definately important.

quick question. Does TCS help quarter mile since you dont peel out, or will it sacrafice power. I think mastering the launch is better, but just wanna know what you guys have to say about that.

TCS doesn't help ya in the Quarter mile unless your completely hopeless and spin the wheels CONSTANTLY without letting off...
in which case you'll still have a BAD time anyway...
It pulls power from the engine...and can be VERY dangerous if say your 'pulling out into traffic' and it kicks in.
