1988 gt v8 bogging/rough start

I have a 1988 GT cobra And since last year I have had bogging problems and rough start problems with it. It all started last year when I was driving and the vehicle started to bog in 1st and 2nd. I store it through the months of November to May. I was told last year to change the gas filter and I did. The problem fixed for a bit but started back again. I went on to change the plugs wires, coil etc before storing it and also threw in a fuel stabilizer to the gas. This year the problem seemed much worse. It took effort to start and the bogging became worse. I added a water remover in the gas In hopes it would work but still nothing. I had some things to do and was busy so I let the car sit for a month and when I went to start it this passed weekend it doesn't even start. Does anyone know how I can fix this...?

If you changed the fuel filter and it fixed it, then you may have dirt in the tank.

Clean the ERG valve and the Idle control valve which is a 30 minute job. Also, check the age of your battery. I just had a dying 5+ year old battery give me several months of misery until it died last weekend. A fresh battery has cured all of the slow performance and quick starts. Worth a try and not much cost.

You know what happened to me once. I had a Pontiac Sunbird with a 3.8 L that did the same thing and they couldn't figure it out till some guy took the cat off and then it ran fine. Have you check to see if the catalytic converter has collapsed inside?
