That is the coolest ride at Cedar Point. Traveled from Tennessee to ride it. Original from Michigan so I knew it would be well worth the trip. Loved the sound effects.

Man - this is a great thread. So many ideas......

I'll be working on a MP3 disc and will let Rhonda (the cars name) decide what she wants to play. So far we have some Hagar, Metallica, AC/DC, Dope, Disturbed, Black Crowes, Mellencamp, Nickelback, Maiden and Def Leppard on it......more to come.

I'll be picking it up in Tampa. Gonna take the wife and her SUV home, put her safely in the passenger seat and head North on 75 to Sumter County. Lots of back country roads there that I grew up on and still know like the back of my hand 20 years later. Places to open it up and just have a good time.

Then take it home and clean/wax it up over a few cold ones in the evening before putting it to bed.

Pick up date has been moved to Dec 17 because of some flight back to the states issues for me leaving Greenland..........ugh - still 4 months to wait!!!
Gotta have Motley Crue - KickStart My Heart...It's a great song to go fast too!

I drove all the way to Tennessee to ride Dollywood's new coaster B)

.. And if I get the car before Oct 31, I'll be driving it out to CP to ride Millennium Force and Dragster... hopefully I won't get a speeding ticket afterwards

Are there stretches of the Autobahn were there are cameras set up? I went to Germany in 1998 and while on the Autobahn, noticed a whole bunch of brakelights up under a bridge. Our limo driver also slowed down. I questioned him as to what the heck was going on, and to gas it. He told me there was a speed camera on the bridge, and he didn't want to be ticketed.

I also encountered a similar thing in Montana years back. I was going an average of 108 from Billings to Helena. When I got to the hotel, I told the bartender that it was great that the state had no speed limit. She told me that it WAS limited to about 88 miles an hour (a safe speed to the police). Anything over would have gotten me pulled over.

OK, Jeebs....WHAT'S THE DEAL?!?!?

Sure. I guess more than half of the overall distance has speed limits. There are speed cameras, and there's police everywhere... Helicopters, undercover cars (i.e. normal looking cars with video and laser equipment), disguised police cars (cars from another state and not looking like Autobahn police)...
The fact that there ARE stretches w/o speed limit requires some discipline. There's a rule that you always have to drive on the outermost lane (as far on the right as possible), except when overtaking. It's usually trucks at ~80kph on the right lane... but imagine a track without cargo overtaking a track with cargo on an uphill slope where you only have two lanes per direction... the lighter one is ~1kph faster... this is called "Elephant Races"...
You are, by the way, not allowed to overtake on the right lane. This can easily run into trouble. I recently saw a report on TV... the Autobahn had three lanes per direction, right one was running at about 80kph, middle and left one at 120 (speed limit)... Just normal traffic... a Helicopter filmed a guy on the middle lane (going 120kph) who was "overtaking" (he wasn't) the guy on the left lane who went off the gas for a moment, so the middle lane guy was half a car length ahead, a couple of seconds later they were on the same level again... he got ticketed, I guess it was around 70 dollars... very unfair...

We have thousands of them, mobile and stationary... a lot of them in towns or on smaller roads ("Landstrasse")... the minivan trick with the radar in the back is very usual here

I've been driving in Germany since 1986, and the biggest obstacle to driving fast these days is the number of cars on the road, traffic just gets worse every year, and at later hours.

About 50% of the autobahn has actual speed limits, which are adhered to, sort of.

The "keep to the right" law is the main reason you can bury it with confidence on some stretches. Germans tailgate like crazy, which takes some getting used to....there's nothing quite like having a 450hp Audi A8 about 6 inches off your bumper when you're driving a 2100 lb Fiesta. Fastest I've ever been was 136mph, legal.

My bud has an '03 Cobra vert that he regularly embarasses M3s with, he has video of himself chasing Porsche GTs at 160+

I live in Heidelberg, too, and what I'm being told is latest Nov. 15th it arrives at Baltimore to begin its journey across the sea. <sigh> I'm praying for winter to come a little late this year.

One other thing I forgot to mention.

If I get one. I know this kid who brags and talks poo aobut sutpid things. like he said his dad designed and drove the Caddy 16. BS! He hasn't seen his dad in 7 yrs. He said he was buying a Mustang or save more for a Ferrari 360(?) because he joined Excel (pyramide scam thinly deguised as a phone company that is failing altogether) and is supposedly making gobs of moneies. Then he said he was maybe gonna save up for a house after the mustang or ferrari.

None of it is true. The kid never shuts the heck up. To the point. He has put me down many times because of my car. He tried to stink 400 dollars from me to join that stupid Excel company....I never did it. He drives a saturn and brags about the speed of it. He's spread rumors about me. The kid is poor and doesn't know his role in the finaicial world. He brags that he has 50,000 in bonds.....his house is more than likely worth about the same. He doesn't have 50,000 in bonds. He has like 1500.

Now what I wanna do is if I get a Mustang. I will drive up to his little house.....and be like "Evan I just won the lotto!" then I'll have my friend Karl pull up shortly after me in a rented 05 Mustang V6 or like 04 if possible and he will tell Evan "Yeah and he (me) bought me a Mustang as well!". Then we'll drive off. Leaving Evan to cry and become jealous and stew in his own anger.

Dude, I know a good psychologist you should probably see...

Once I get a call from the dealership letting me know it is in: Come down with a mysterious illness and have to leave early for the day. Call in a substitute for work the next day (pray the sub makes it out alive). Go to Best Buy to get new tunes (in the new car). You have to have new tunes to go with the new car!
