Code Reader wont connect
I have a 2005 Mustang GT that Ive owned for about a year now. Two days ago I noticed the CEL had came on and I decided to run a code reader to see what the issue was and the code reader keeps giving me an error and that its not linking to my car. Anything that could lead to the issue would help greatly! Thanks.

Look in your owners manuel fo a fuse for the OBDII port. I havent looked but on my F150 the fuse for the power ports also power the obd port.
Is your reader a bluetooth that works with a phone or tablet?

is it a production scan tool, or a ebay bluetooth device?
I bought several bluetooth devices before I got one that worked(PLX)with my 'torque' track recorder app. on my mustang, but some worked fine on other cars... the PLX 'Kiwi' unit works on all of them (but its corded, to a module with the bluetooth- and the cord hits your leg...I got a right angle adapter and stuffed the whole thing under the dash)
I have a actron scanner I bought back in 05 or so from Autozone, it has worked on every vehicle we have.
a lot of the ebay stuff is pretty iffy. I did find one cheap one that seems to work fine, a lot cheaper than the kiwi, bought several so have one in each car- for no good reason... I'll try and find a link to the cheap ones that worked

these (and the PLX one) work on all our cars, all the other bluetooth adapters I tried wouldnt link up to the mustang...
the 'torque' app is really cool-with the 'track recorder' part, you can superimpose any gages you want + any phone sensors you want, onto the video being recorded- if you can mount your phone up

I've been using BAFX bluetooth obdii done and dash commander. I bought an extension cable for the odbii because the BAFX stuck out too far to work the clutch comfortably.
I bought dash commander and have enjoyed building my own displays for the past few weeks.
As suggested, take the car to autozone, advance, ... and have them read your code. If they can, your device is at fault. If they can't, then it's with the car.
