Hahaha thank you!! It's so crazy. Any little stir or cry and Bella goes over to check him, licks his face and then goes back to lay down. Even when she's sleeping, she keeps one eye on him wherever he is. It reminds me so much of my dog when I was a baby...my parents got him 2 weeks before I was born so we grew up together. I told Bella she needs to watch over him as long as she lives

Bella is a German Shepherd, correct? That is the best breed out there in my opinion. Very smart, very loyal, very protective, and fearless.

She's half German Shepard, half Border Collie. But I agree with you. I've always wanted a German Shepard, although I pretty much love all sled-dog style breeds. When I was little we had a Norwegian Elkhund and he was the best. As a child, I was terrible to that dog and he loved me to death hahaha. When he'd be chewing his bone, I'd run up and grab it, take his food away, sit on him like a horse and he didn't flinch. I was an only child, so when we had to put him to sleep at 14, it broke my heart. My parents always called him my brother, and he was the closest thing I had growing up. I'll just need to make sure I teach my boy about life and death before that time comes

Another thing I did was feed the more "aggressive" dog last.
It takes a little time. But it works

My 2 intact male pitbulls lived together for years. I left them home alone, not caged, all the time. They tested each other a few times and found out the alpha (me) was in charge. No tension between them and they became best friends.
When Ox was in his last months Papi wouldn't leave his side, was never more than 10 feet.

put him down in a submissive position (on side or back) when he shows aggression to Sgt. Don't be mean about it but it must be swift and capt has to know it's your show and his job is to follow orders and leave the bossing around to you. My younger dog kept trying to up his spot in the pack. I put a quick end to that. A quick neck poke right after a growl will suffice if you don't feel like taking the dog down.
