How about as your driving around the streets of Kalifornia you keep an eye out for bumpers on older cars. Then when you see one that might work call the junk yards and locate one and measure it or see if you can make it work.

hahahaha

He refuses to beleive there is a better II out there too. I told him one of my friends with a really nice Mach 1 is coming to the show tomorrow. 5.0, EFI, fancy paint, beautiful condition, but he still refuses to believe theres a better II out there

Funny kid, that one

Thats another good idea, looking out for bumpers that look good. I could also try and find some Monroe Handler parts, or maybe get Maier Racing to make me a rear roll pan, but thats hard

I would LOVE that rear end though

I am currently in the house market so my next stang to buy is going to wait until i purchase a house. But once i do i might actually look into a cobra II since they are neat cars and can be had for a good price, thats only if the wife allows it, she wants me to buy a brand new one, but if i do that i'll have no money for mods.

If you found yourself a Cobra II that would be absolutely SWEET!

Also, good luck on the house

My next project, which quite honeslty will be my first project, will be to find a late 70's or early 80's Bronco with a 351. My dad had one when I was a kid with a lift kit and racing cam. My neighbor is redoing an original Bronco, but I think I can do more with the larger Bronco. My wife wants a Jeep, but I'd like to stick to Fords in the stable. I wish I could find my Dad's original '81 Bronco.

Ford made a couple, but you can't really buy em any more Last I heard someone was trying to make molds off of their Monroe Handler, but I dunno what happened to him..

I have an article about the Handler somewhere, I'll have to scan it

Also, this is what the repro fiberglass rear looks like. this ones already been shaved and mounted close

Wow that II is awesome. 13.50 at 105.68 mph is pretty respectible. they mentioned about $6000 to duplicate + cost of the car. seems cheap at first until you realize a 99GT can be had for about 6k and and can prob do better in the 1/4 with 2-3k in mods. and prob handle and brake better too. don't mean to be a negative nancy.

But you'd look so much cooler driving around a II than a 99 GT

Arin, your use of Krylon has inspired me so I painted the bottom part of my hood last night

Where the heck are you finding them for 6K? There at least double that around here. I need to move.

I'm in the midwest too. I'd be lucky to find a V6 for 6k. I've seen '94/'95 V6s with 150,000 mi asking nearly 5k.

The Krylon Rust Tough stuff is... well... tough stuff I dropped my ratchet, bolts, and countless other things on the black area while installing the carb scoop, tailights, etc, and there are no chips yet. i dread to think of how my Bullitts DHG paint would have reacted to such abuse.

and on the subject of '99 GTs, the price varies here...

this one is $4700
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/car/726501593.html

but this one is $10K
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/car/726534693.html

These were the two limits in price, but most of the other 99 GTs were in the 7-9K range. you'd have to do some hunting to find one below that. 6K is barely enough for an average non PI GT, at least, a 98

That 2nd one listed will never sell for that price. there is no reason to pay over 8k for a 99 gt.

I really think that if we do my diffuser and it looks good, that we should try to do a bumper for you again. And no more of that cardboard crap. We need to get foam to be shaped, make a negative, then make the bumper. We will be able to make it however you want, and it won't matter how bad the negative is, because the inside of it will look like glass. As will the outside of the real thing.

I hope we take another chance with that fiberglass, to actually do it right. Could you imagine if we were good enough to make big things, like fenders and bumpers and custom stuff? We could make BANK.
