You can start a "guess what this is?" thread! Here's my guess - A old-school VW Beetle, converted to use a front-engined V8 (preferrably Ford!), and a Bentley/Rolls-Royce style grill in front of the radiator.
Someone at a local cruise night actually had a car like this - except it had a supercharged BB Chevy, and minus the British styling.

The body will be all new and 100% custom, and we plan on a SBF. Dunno abour front/rear engine yet. Maybe even mid...

Arin..I didn't read everything but did you check into "shorty Headers"?
They should easily fit in the engine bay of the car. They are probably about as large as the stock v-8 manifolds from a V-8 II.
Remember the cars came with v-8's you can always try to track down the correct stock manifolds for it.

Shorties?! I remember asking about them on an all mustang II forum and every single person told me they did not exist. Arghhh... Just out of curiosity, what kind of exhaust setup did you run Doug?

And at one point I was going to buy stock manifolds, but i saw the headers on another site and i just bought them, since i couldn't find them anywhere else.

*sigh* i've made so many mistakes in this build. looking back though.. its almost funny. I should write a book about this

It might depend on the mode you're using, close to the top right, right under the page #s, theres a link called "Display Modes". I'm using linear

I had the stock manifolds on my car. But had plans to get shorties for it.
Now like i said I didn't read the entire thread but my car had a standard 302 in it so I could bolt up anything to it with no problem. If you have the same ge a set of stock manafold or shorties and you should be ok. I think Hedman makes headers for your car
here http://www.hedman.com/pages/hedders/pass-ford.html#MUST

there is a pic of them here
http://www.car-stuff.com/performance...4&skipped=true

the bottom ones are the ones you want..now those are longtubes

as for shortys you will probably need to find a universal 302 application.

Those Hedmans are what I ordered. I did some research on other forums and found out the 302 in a II sits offcenter an inch or so and causes problems when bolting up hedmans. Evryone I've asked about the Hedmans say they're a ***** to get on. I wish i was able to drive down to the shop whenever I want but i never have any time.

But alas, the header situation is moot I guess, since the customs are being doneas we speak. Well maybe not as we speak, the shops closed right now lol, but yeah, you get the picture.

Also that site looks a tad like JCWhitney and other generic parts companies. So I dunno if those parts will actually end up fitting the II.

Building a II must have been way easier back in the 70s

Also BM, I remember you had a carb scoop on yours. How did that feel on the car? Did you just bolt it up on top of your intake/carb or did you need something special. I've always been a fan of those, even on N/A cars. Was there a noticable performance gain? Basically was it worth it? Sorry for so many questions, but you are definately closer to expert in the field of modding 302 IIs compared to myself. Thanks for all teh help so far

NO prob mate..Yeah I had that scoop.it was a Mr. Gasket Street scoop 2
It has an aircleaner in it and just sits on top of the carb and the butterflys bolt up to the throttle linkage.
It's basically a REAL cold ram air kit. I never had any issues with it even in a downpour.
As for performance..well I never tested it and my butt meter wasn't so finely tuned back then. I can tell you it is the coolest thing to see sticking out of your hood and it came close to causing accidents from people rubbernecking. I loved it. Once I got rid of the II I put it on my 82 GT. Although it was a pain to keep clean.. I used to polish it every other day.
man i miss my II

anytime i can help just ask.

You could always sell that '00 GT of yours and buy a Cobra II and some $10K worth of mods. It could be your Cobra II # II

My hood had a great deal of rust under the old hood scoop anyhow... a Mr. Gasket I think would look pretty awesome, and add to the wow factor of an already hard to find car. I'll see how it all goes. I ideally want to do my suspension next, but I have no idea if i'll be able to afford anything in the near future.

Arin when putting the Mr Gasket scoop on Measure alot!!!
I cut the hole a hair long and had to weld a piece of metal back in and fix it..my first foray into body work heheh.

On my 82 I measured like 400 times

What you just mentioned is my number one fear. Also... I always see some kind of lining that goes around the edge of a cut on cars with carbs or scoops or blower sticking out. What is that stuff and where can I get it?

I was sitting in a different Latin class today (I have a free 5th period, so I thought I'd hang around intsead of go home, since Latin is one of my favorite classes)

I was reading some books about how to work Latin into every day life. The Latin word for "Ford" is "Vadum". There was a section about vanity plates as well, and lo and behold "Mustang" in Latin is "Mannus". So I wrote "Vadum Mannus II" on my arm, so I would remember to post it here. Eventually, I added a bit to the words and came up with the PERFECT tattoo design lol

what do you guys think?
