Thats because it IS Jason

The seller is a guy I know from MustangII.net and he has an original Monroe Handler and is even making full on body kits to sell. Since he has an original, he can get molds made for the exact parts and whatnot. Its pretty sweet.

Is it just me or did I just notice that you have added an 86 camaro to your collection?

He says it is for his auto club at school, but we all know he is a true bowtie fan at heart

Talking

Yes there is a camaro outside, parked right next to my II. Neither are driveable right now, II for mechanical reasons, Camaro for insurance reasons.

What can I say, it's a neat little car. Not fast (yet) by any means but still fun to drive. It beats the hades out of a Maxima

oh and Chris:

Well guys... I have a mild update, and isn't all too pleasant.

As some of you may know, this fall I'll be going off to college, and i'll be needing reliable transportation. Sound ominous yet?

This all started a few days ago when i saw a "wanted" ad for a V8 mustang II on craigslist. I emailed him for ****s and giggles. Turns out he was looking for a $500 shell or something, but it got me thinking.

My parents will not let me take my Mustang II to college, and I know that if i leave it here with them, it will not be taken care of. No maintenence will be done, she wont get driven, and i'll return home to a car that has rotted and rusted for half a decade. I'm still in the process of writing a for sale ad for craigslist. I'm in no rush to sell, since school is still in session and all, but unless there is some crazy stroke of luck that comes upon me, I'll have to sell Fiona :'(

I'm still close to $4K in debt on the car too, so i need to at least get a little bit over that to barely even brake even. That still doesnt get me enough cash for another car. I've been talking to my parents and i'm trying to get them to make a deal with me. They've hated my car and my choice in cars from day one. I told them I'll sell the mustang if i can sell the beater mazda as well ($3500ish) and pool all that money into getting one car. It would be newer, safer, etc. My mom is being a bit *****y about it and only gives me the "sell your car first, we'll see what happens" angle. She also doesnt beleive in buying a car from a private sale, which i believe is pretty **** ignorant. To be honest, nothing went wrong with this car until i started playing with it. its not because i bought a bad car.

The car i suggested as a replacement was a 99+ Crown Victoria P71, retired of course. These are big safe cars. They also have 4.6L V8s in them. This car would satisfy everything a parent wants in a car (safe, reliable) and still satisfy what I want in a car (good looks and decent performance). I've been looking around and one of these babies runs about $5-6K. Most are right near the 100K mark in terms of miles, but all look like they've been well taken care of.

There are so many pluses to this car, for me. I could drive palces with friends, carry all my stuff, travel long distances, go on the freeway, people will move out of my way etc, etc, etc. Theres also a modest aftermarket for the cars, so I won't get bored with it.

My Cobra II runs right now, but still has no exhaust, and the steering is still busted. My friends and I are going to replace the steering rack ourselves, so thats only really about $150 more to my bill, for parts. Speaking of parts I have a bunch of those to sell too. My supercharger can go, along with all the EFI parts that came with it, to someone with a ranger/bronco II or something. I have my long tube headers. I have wheels, tires, mufflers etc. I could even sell off some of my airsoft arsenal.

Ideally I'd love to sell it to another Mustang II lover, especially someone from TMS that i can trust, but I suppose as long as I can find someone who's passionate about cars to take care of my baby, I think it will be for the best. I've heard the phrase "if you love somebody, you should let her be free" and ive had to deal with it when it comes to relationships, but i never thought it would come to this with my car.

I don't WANT to have to sell my dear Fiona, but its looking like i have little choice in the matter. I think as soon as I'm 18 I'm going to get me a tattoo of a Cobra and the roman numeral II to remind me of the coolest car I've ever set eyes upon. Maybe someday I'll get another, when I'm more experienced and knowledgeable, and I can ensure that i wont **** up the car. * sigh *

The past year has been rough on all fronts, school, romance, friends, parents, car, colleges, health. Maybe things will work out better later on.

Really sorry to hear of your situation Arin. Best of luck selling your II, hope you get the best deal you can. Good luck with the degree in mechanical engineering too. Right now I'm in my first year of engineering with hopes of going into mechanical in the later years(thats how it works here). When I was looking at the different faculties of engineering I could go into, I got to visit the engines lab they have here and the see formula SAE car (open wheeled race car) they were building and I really wanted to have a part in that kind of stuff.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I am very much looking forward to college. I'll be out of redwood city, and on my own. Some of my good friends have also applied to the same colleges as me, and to my top choice (University of Pacific, whic I have already been accepted to). If all goes well, me and my best friend will be living together when we get there. Her major and mine are pretty far apart, but we've been friends for a while, and she is almost completely a clone of me, albeit in female form. I honestly beleive if i end up at UoP with the trustworthy group of friends i have now, i will feel good for the first time in a while.

I am going to miss this thread though. Despits the ups and downs this project gave me, sharing the experience here with all you TMSers has been one of the best parts

Sorry to hear about having to give up the II. IMO, you should sell the Mazda and the II at around the same time. The "we'll see..." angle probably would not work out in your favor and you could be "stuck" with the Mazda if the II goes first. Hope you can find a "college-mobile" both sides can agree on for the most part. Good luck, whatever the outcome is and enjoy the time you have left with the II...
BTW, GO TIGERS!

Well, techincally the Mazda isn't my car, so I can't sell it without my parents permission. And there is no way I will drive the Mazda to college. Its just plain not big enough for me and my friends to cruise around in and its not as capable as other cars. I've gotten my parents to give in just enough to say it can at least be American. Thats a start i guess...
