Just an old school AFL thing tonight. All these teams were originally AFL teams so I guess they brought out the old team uniforms and ref uniforms for opening week on Monday night.

I gotta say I like the throwback Pats unis. I liked those better.

I'd like to see two teams with the ***** enough to go back to real old gear, leather helmets, etc. It'll never happen, but it would be cool

The Original Eight
Eight teams were part of the AFL in its inaugural 1960 season. Five of the eight clubs either changed nicknames or cities or both, but all are in existence in the NFL today. Click on the logo for a team history.

I think so. Probably just wanted to be different than the NFL at the time. Maybe Pete Rozelle had a trademark on black and white stripe ref unis.
