hey cody, happy birthday
S197 GT's are really nice driving vehicles too, or atleast in the short time that I drove it. I need to be behind that wheel again!

I've never driven one. I should go test drive one when spring gets here though.

All this talk of the handling of the S197 got me thinking. I've driven Foxes, and a sn95 Cobra I can't remmeber the year, and of course my car.
The S197 does handle great. Very good if you ask me. That's why I don't get the whole IRS vs. SLA debate. If the rear is this good now and IRS is better, then the car could handle absolutely awesome with IRS. I'm happy the way it is. Especially with my mods. Between the shocks, struts, springs, TIRES, LCA's, LCA relo brackets, and panhard bar. It handles really good. Other cars may handle better that I've driven, but they didn't have the predicted response or throttle response I now enjoy. I can let the rear hang out a little, it's funner that way to me.

there have been only two or three cars i've driven that can handle better. one was the Mazda3. the other two (ish, debatable if dad's 3 series handles better i'd really need to think ahrd about it) were BMWs, one of which was a Z3 M coupe. I'd say its in good company.
I didn't quite like the seating position, but im sure I could tweak that. my biggest gripe really is how little you see opf the hood. maybe I'm just used to hood scoops going from cobra II scoop to Bullitt scoop to Carb scoop. then again,. I dont have a problem driving Pete's non-scooped SN95..
The biggest surprise though (since I knew going in the S197 even in V6 trim would handle pretty good) was the torque. I know the 4.0L is a truck motor and is said to be plenty torquey, but I guess I didn't really realize the extent to which it is until i drove it. and maybe its just me, but that V6 sounds really good too..
I will buy Jack Stands!!!
I can't comment on the S197, but does anybody else feel like their gonna flip while turning fast in a SN95? Might just be where the seats at (dads car) but thats how I feel
