Drove back from Florida yesterday. The ol GMC crew averaged 18.3 for the trip mainly seeing 72 mph with the four of us and luggage on board. $265 in fuel cost, 116 gallons used for 2123 miles or about 10% of the cost to fly lol.

I drove the Flex to Florida and back averaged about 23mpg. Flying is dang expensive. But it would be nice to have breakfast at home and lunch in Florida.

The road trip is way more fun. You get to see so much more of the country. And I hate flying!

Flying has its purposes. If its you and a spouse, any longer trips I might fly, but it's super pricey for a family.

I really like road trips as well so it's a toss up for me.

It was cool for the kids to see seven states in one day.... And they could track our progress on their phones so not once did either ask how much longer lol.

I love driving and I love road trips. Flying used to be fun but now it is a PITA with TSA, baggage restrictions, and a scarcity of cheap tickets. I am retiring in June and am looking forward to driving everywhere, except maybe China.

We spent something close to $8k when we took the kids to Disney. Airfare for 5, we wanted to stay inside the park so we had to stay at a deluxe resort (Polynesian for 7 nights) that would accommodate a family of 5, tickets to the park, food and drinks for a full week, rental car, and we gave each kid $150 spending money and said that's all you get for the week - spend it wisely. Nonetheless, we only went once, lol.

My husband can't sit still that long for long road trips. He drives me nuts he gets so antsy.

We should drive to Charlotte and party in Bama on the way. And then steal some gas in Louisiana on the way home.

YOU PUMP MY GAS,!
And we could drive back in one day.
The bar crawl with Scott's dad was one of the highlights of that trip. I think I was in my element, or maybe heaven.

The longest I have ever driven was about 9 hours. I was set on kill by my 7th hour! No over the road truck driving for me ever! I'm completely amazed at those who can! :-)
