Well, MD must differ. We call it soda around here. If you ask me for a coke, you are getting a coke. Coke is coke and pepsi is pepsi 
If you ask for a coke and they don't have it, they usually will ask if Pepsi is ok. I rarely drink soda but when I do I prefer root beer, grape or orange.

So it seems like the warm weather has brought out a lot of nutsos. Yesterday I had some guy in an older yellow audi something or other revving at me cutting through traffic trying to show off. Eventually ended up at a stoplight next to him (he was turning left) and when I continued to ignore his constant, high-pitched revs, he turned up his sub so he could rattle his car. 
Then today some little rusty sonoma thought it would be cool to peel out in front of me after the light turned green. Another mile down the road, a white 350Z with bright, neon orange wheels decided to go WOT as soon as he saw me going down the other side of the street. Gonna be a fun summer.

yup, it always does, saw a lady chasing a SUV down the street yesterday, yelling about her liquor. Lets just say, she did not look like the running type.
