Love that show. I know some people up there and have been involved in some **** years ago up there. Crazy place. (and yes, Harlan is a real place, not just a fictional tv place, so is Hazard, and there is some crazy **** that goes on there. ). Bootleggers, weed growers, pillbillies, etc. and not a place you want to be after dark unless you know some folks.
This is the first time I've actually sat down and watched it its pretty good

Maybe not as dramatic as the show portrays, but there is a lot of ****ed up **** goes on in that area. First time I went there back in the 90's, I was dumbfounded. In Hazard, there would be old **** trailers along the ridges that looked like they were about to fall in, but there would be brand new Corvettes parked in front of them. I stayed there for a week back then, and it was a small town, couple of thousand people. The newspaper only came out once a week. I got a room in a little motel (don't ask what I was doing there) I picked up the paper that came out a few days before and there had been 7 murders there that week!

Don't think I can stay awake much longer. So if I can't, goodnight.

Don't stay up too late touching yourself.
Be sure and put the cat up. Don't want her tearing the place apart.
Really don't understand why you don't just let Sandy stay in your room since she loves you so much. No wonder she loves to see you so much, I'd love to see you too if you locked me in the laundry room all night. Hell, I'd love to see anyone when they let me out.

Its one seriously screwed up place. You have to have eyes in the back of your head, and a gun on your side at all times.

I've seen Vipers, Vettes, etc. parked along the road, and you would have to walk across a swinging rope bridge that goes over the river (which would be several hundred feet down below) to get to this dilapidated trailer from the 70's. Its a ****ed up place.
