A friend with a top notch body shop said 'its sort of like liquifying the clear coat - not really but just to sort of explain. That levels the swirls out'. They fixed my car after a key job. Well after two attempts he still had swirls. boo-hiss!

So I took it back to the Dealer. They used their 'best guy' a few years ago and he did an amazing job! The only swirls I could see was a corner of the trunk lid if you looked at the right angle in the sun glare where it looked like he turned it off in place. The rest of the car was so perfect I accepted it.

So when I took it back to them after my friend's shop left swirls, they brought the same guy to do it. Guess what? Swirls!

So apparently it isn't the easiest thing to learn or repeat every time.

If anything, practice on your Mom's GM.

if you just get a dual action polisher you should be fine nathan, you just dont wanna get a rotary buffer, that'll burn through your paint in no time.

for more info than you ever could need, go look at the forums at meguiarsonline.com - if you can't find out how to shine or clean something from there, then it can't be done

I was just looking at the simple PC that's like $120. Its supposed to be super user friendly. I've tried doing it by hand but it can only do so much. I don't plan on doing a major cutting/polishing and whatnot. Just trying to get it looking a little better. I'm not going to start out with something a professional still has a hard time doing. I'm gonna start out slow and learn as much as I can and put the knowledge to use. Last time I ask advice around here.

And Lee, I made that way too easy for you.

btw, last week I got to test my new Passport 8500. Really like it. Saved my bacon from the bacon more than once. lol Well worth $299 to me.

Several times they were sitting in the median behind bridge supports so they'd nail you as you went by. But the Passport went off like two miles ahead of time. Couple of loud beeps then auto mute takes it down. Then you hear geiger like ticking as you get closer. I could see where Valentines direction arrows could be helpful because for a long way you're wondering which way they are hiding. But either way the smart thing is to slow down regardless of which direction the radar is coming from.

A couple of times I think I had instant on but I was pacing traffic.
In town very few false signals and again the auto mute takes it down.

Regardless, years of habit keeps my eyes peeled and cautious of hiding spots. Plus I never go blazing past someone on the freeway. I ease past them then speed up again when no cars are around me.

Got a tankful of premium for the drive home over the pass. I really can feel that extra torque from 3-4k in the twisties.

Sorta but with a little more power but yeah same function.

Nate if you have the patience then go for it. There are some great vids on YouTube that walk you through it. It's a lot of work but not difficult to do. You may enjoy it as masochistic as you are anyways.

I love the Farmtruck. Especially when he has the dog riding in there with him.
