Plus to run the well if forest fire took the power out.

Seems like it was a few summers back, there were a lot of outages from tornadoes in St Louis. Like 3 different times. My sister said tons of neighborhoods were having big bbq's - might as well get some good out of it rather than just tossing it. Grocery stores lost a lot too.
We've had a generator here for a few days now. I got to borrow a friends when she knew she wasn't going to lose power. Too late to save a lot of the food, but the big freezer survived a few days until it got hooked up.

My sister had checked. $500 deductible so it's not worth it. She had just spent $300 on groceries 2 days before the storm. She one on the dummies that stocks up before hand. Hopefully she's learned her lesson now.

My fridge/freezer was full from a week before the storm so I lost pretty much everything in it. It looks funny empty and will be like that for a few weeks since I can't afford to fill it right now.

It didn't.

Well, still no power here. Only 4 ½ days so far, but it feels longer. Nothing like driving down to the end of the street and everything past there has been lit up for a few days now. They say most will be back on for Friday, and the stragglers by midnight Sunday. Here in Hicksville that will probably be us. Internet is back and cable too, so at least I can get some online time.

so a friend of mine asked me to drive his car the other day. He thought something was wrong with the transmission, and boy was it!

When you try to accelerate, if you give it more than about 10% of the throttle, it just starts revving and doesn't accelerate.

My guess is a slipping clutch, what do you guys think?

So, I almost got rear-ended on the freeway this morning. So close I'm still shaking like a leaf People are so f'n stupid sometimes. I'm coming up on a split in the freeway, 2 lanes go left, 2 lanes go right. I go off to the left (in the right lane) and traffic is moving about 50-55 mph, but traffic is all backed up in the 2 lanes going to the right. Well this idiot 2 cars in front of me decides to stop dead in my lane and try to cut over into the stopped traffic because they obviously don't want to wait in traffic like everybody else. Nonetheless, all you hear are tires screeching and see people swerving all over the place. I really thought the Lexus suv behind me was going to plow into me and push me into the car in front of me.

Scary Jill! Glad nothing happened. I just saw a car rear end someone the other day. Person in front of me decided to drive forward before the light had even changed and smacked right into the minivan in front of them. No major damage, but I was so thankful it wasn't me.
