It's supposed to heat back up for the weekend, but this morning it was 33 at 7.30. I didn't drain any hoses because they said frost - not freezing! That was close!! :whew:

Definitely not. But you don't have to be southern for that. I know plenty of women who are like that.

my father in law hunts exclusivly with one during bow season since its legal here now.

They are powerful, but only out to about 40-45yds. After that they loose so much of their energy the shot is a severe risk of doing light to moderate damage to an animal, rarely fatal.

I still prefer my compound bow, a bit more of a thrill to me personally. I will say this though, the crossbow is awesome because you load it, get it ready to fire and you dont have any extra movement when trying to take a shot and they are super accurate.

Are they hard to ****? [OK, let's try lock lolol] With my damaged fingers I can't use a longbow any more. Are they accurate within that 40 yds?

Oh yeah they are very accurate within 40yd range. Especially the fact you can put a red dot scope on them and all (check local laws). They arent real easy to **** (wow didnt know i had that filtered out) but you can get pull strings and other devices taht assist and make it alot easier. Any of your better crossbows are going to be 150lb draw weight and up. I think my father in laws is a 175 excaliber or maybe hoyt, i cant remember the brand. They arent silent like a traditional or modern compound. There is a distinct sound all to a cross bow.

Seems like I read that the bow strings break if your draw device is a simple string - like maybe they need a setup that spreads the strain over a few inches of the bow string like you said. Has he broken bow strings very often?
I'll check those two out. I was looking at a Barnett online before.

No he's never broken a string. There are strings specifically for xbows, anything not specified for it your taking a huge risk and can seriously hurt yourself.

Horton is the brand he has. Hoyt makes compound bows..Tenpoint makes awesome crossbows, and PSE is no slouch either.

Indeed there is. But Nate, you creep me out much more than anyone around here. :P Nothing that a couple trips to the club down here can't fix. Come on down south and we can straighten you up right quick. Got a few chicks on speed dial that will solve all your problems.
