Today, June 6, is the 35th anniversary of my own personal 'D-Day' when I packed up and left St. Louis with only a backpack and a Land Cruiser and a thousand bucks. Headed out for the mountains at 20 and never looked back. "Go west young man!"

I am so **** sick of this ****hole of a road I live on! Dusty as all hell today and of course my dumb window won't roll up and it's all coming into my car. So I get about 1/8 of the way down, and of course mr. ******* who lives two houses down from me (neither him nor his *****y wife ever wave back) gets right on my tail. I speed up to 25-30 (way too fast imo) and he's still right on my tail. I slow down when I get to the bumpy part of the road right before his driveway and I can see him in my rear view flipping me off. What I wouldn't give to slash a few of his tires.

I think it's about time to replace my front brake pads and am looking at some better rotors as well. Does anyone know if you have to replace both front and rear rotors or is it ok to just do the fronts? Rears are still good. I just replaced the pads last summer. Sorry for the dumb question.

You can just do the fronts. For quite a while now I've been using Wagner rotors and pads on my Exploders and have had good luck with them.

Ok, cool. I was looking at these, but now they also have these. I have the wagner pads on the rear and have been happy with those so far. I know everyone raves about hawk, but they're supposed to be incredibly dusty and I don't really want to deal with that.

I want to do shock/struts/springs too, but that'll have to wait til the road gets paved, if and ever it does. They've surely taken a beating this spring. Plus I can't believe how much springs have gone up in cost. Nearly $50.

TBH, I'd stay away from the slotted, drilled, etc. rotors for a daily driven car like you use yours for. Its a waste of money, and you'll see little to no benefit with the way you use your car (may even be worse for noise and brake dust). Not to mention that you can't turn them. Have the ones you've got now ever been turned? If not, and there's no major scarring or anything on them I'd have them turned and put new pads on (unless rotors are really cheap for it).

I've never had them turned and I'm not sure if any of the previous owners ever had them turned. I think I'd just rather replace them though than spend the money on them, and then have to spend more to replace them not too much further down the road. The wagner rotors are $40 a piece for my car at amazon, which is a lot cheaper than the powerslots...but there's only one left in stock.

Looked them up at O'Reillys and they're 61.99 there. How much is shipping from Amazon? Do y'all have O'Reillys there? I mainly started using them because the little locally owned parts store carries Wagner and I try to do as much business with them as I can instead of the chain stores.

O'reillys is really all we have. I get free two day shipping from amazon. (students get one year of prime for free ) That's about $40 saved which is the price of the pads...

I put Hawks and slotted rotors on my Trailblazer. No dust problems with them. It seemed to stop just a wee bit better at first, now it's no better than having the Wagners on it.

How do these look to you? They don't look too bad to me (at least not as my rears did last summer), but I don't feel like my brakes are nearly as good as they used to be. I know at least the pads were all changed right before we bought it in december '08.

My F150 was down to 3/16" and I only went another 2k to be safe - didn't want to score the rotors.
As long as the rotors aren't warped or scored you can just replace the pads. Over time the thinning rotors could mean some fading since they don't dissipate heat as well is my understanding. But just normal driving shouldn't get them super hot like racing or towing.
How's your fluid? Maybe pads and a good fluid flush and you'd be good to go.

Mine look to be about that right now, but it's super hard to measure them. Fluid canister is full and looks fine to me.
