Quote: Agreed ...

Buying a New Saleen if that is really even possible would be totally insane !!!

I have had one in the past and the Authorized Saleen (Local Ford Dealer) did not even want it back on trade for another Saleen.

Talk about a freaking joke and loosing thousands of dollars I have been personally there guys.

Can you just imagine paying $80,000.00 Dollars PLUS for a New Saleen and then No-Way to get the Warranty Service done on it.

Or try trading it or selling it when there are No Authorized Saleen Dealers !!!

Anyone that does someway or another get their hands on one of those $80,000.00 Dollars Saleen better hope they love it .............

Because they will Never-Ever be able to get rid of it, FACT !!!

I'll just keep what I have and be DARN glad I have gotten over Saleen years ago.

BTW, if you happen to change your mind on the new Roush Mustangs at least those guys actually do exist.

Here are two Roush Execs checking mine out a few days ago in person.

Guys,

A picture I was sent from Brent a few minutes ago.

Here are two cool guys that stopped by Brenspeed today
Left Don Manfredi VP of Roush Marketing
Right Tim Schultz Manager of Sales
They loved the
1000 HP Roush Supercharged Tiger Machine
Thanks for stopping by Roush Performance !!!

Terry ! I couldn't agree more with your post, as I also happen to be one of those ex-Saleen customers who know exactly what it feels like when you can't find a real person to contact for support..

Hopefully others will value and benefit from your experiences in which you took the time to share here with all of us in this thread

Guys,

I know we don't know one another.
But ..........
I just turned 70 June of this year.
I have been messing with cars since the mid 60's when I returned from Vietnam.
I have had it broken-off in me by the best over all these years.

Saleen was a big deal a very long time ago.
And Brenspeed was a huge Saleen Supercharger Authorized Dealer back then.
That's how I ended up running the Saleen Supercharger with the Super-Shaker option.
But ..............
As time passed Saleen just went down hill and never came out with the newer Superchargers as time passed.
They had no parts or nothing in the way of support to their dealers.

So Brenspeed like other retailers went to other companies for their more modern superchargers.
Roush is one of those companies.
So I also went with replacing that Saleen set-up with an all new Roush Supercharger system.

It was the exact same situation with Saleen years ago with their Mustangs.
They talked a good game but it was simply just that, talk.
Their support to their Ford Dealers was just PITIFUL !!!
I had as I said in the other post a Saleen Supercharged Mustang brand new and called to trade it back in on the much higher H/P Saleen at the time.
My Ford Dealer did not want the Saleen I just purchased from them back on trade on the higher H/P Saleen.
Yes I was "SHOCKED" !!!
I took that as a Warning to get away from the Saleen Mustangs ASAP.
Dumped the New Saleen and never looked back.

Here is that Saleen I spoke of I had.

Terry ! Once again, I totally relate to your experiences regarding Saleen, as I also got no phone/e-mail support from them whatsoever regarding parts/servicing for my Saleen series VI supercharger..

After nearly 2 years of getting bounced around from one voice mail inbox to another in which nobody ever bothered to return any of my messages, they lost my respect and my business as a direct result and pretty much knew the hand writing was on the wall that Saleen was no longer the company that it once was when it first started over 20 years ago and has been in deep financial trouble following it's lawsuit against SPV which began over 4 years ago in order to re-acquire the company in which they obviously still haven't recovered from since..

Luckily after doing some extensive research, I was finally able to locate 3 vendors who used to be authorized Saleen service centers/dealers who still repair and service the Saleen superchargers..

1) 281 motorsports based in Placentia, CA

2) PSE superchargers based in Edmond, OK

3) Performance Autosport based in Richmond, VA

And finally there's a vendor on E-bay that goes by Saleencars84 who purchased the remaining Speedlab parts that were left over from SPV based in Troy Michigan who still carries the parts in stock, however once those parts have been completely sold and are no longer available ? You had better hope the 3 vendors I listed above can still locate parts, otherwise you can pretty much consider your Saleen supercharger as obsolete and completely useless..

Oh and Btw: Brenspeed also obtained some spare Speedlab parts just recently, including the Saleen Super Shaker upgrade, however once their gone, it's pretty much going to be nearly impossible to find replacement parts..

Needless to say, when the time finally comes, I'll also be jumping ship to Roush just as you did.. In the meantime, I just want to say thanks once again for taking the time in sharing your experiences regarding Saleen as you've been very helpful by providing us all with such valuable info ..

I just now saw this post.
Unfortunately from this site I don't always get the [instant E-Mail notices].

Well I thought it was worth taking the time to let others know how Saleen really is and has been over the years.

They as I said were a Big Deal many-many-years ago.

That changed along with their operation for Superchargers.

That's exactly why I got with Brent (Brenspeed) and changed over to the Roush.

And moving right along to the supposedly New Saleen Mustang.
That's a JOKE sure enough.
Man if a guy jumped in and paid $80,000.00 dollars or more for one he would be a Sick Puppy in a very short time.
As the member on here that tried multiple times to get a response from Saleen and did not.
Can you imagine what the heck would take place if you actually had one of those Mustangs and had to locate an Authorized Saleen Dealer for Warranty work.
Or what if it got Damaged and you needed parts !!!

Guys all I can tell you is RUN don't Walk from anything to do with Saleen !!!

It's odd that Saleen put so much into the S550 when they apparently do not have the ability to even build and sell them. I was looking at their website and both the Yellow and Black label cars are impressive. Such a shame to see a company go under. We are fortunate to have other companies around to build unique variations of the Mustang.

As I previously mentioned in this thread along with the other Saleen threads.. Steve Saleen has nobody else to blame but himself, as he ran his company into the ground and was then forced out by his own board of directors as a direct result..

Afterwards the company went bankrupt and was then sold to the parent company of Saleen Performance Vehicles based in Troy Michigan..

Just as SPV began turning the company back in the right direction, Steve S files a lawsuit against SPV in order to reacquire the very same company he ran into the ground because his new company that he started (SMS) couldn't compete with SPV..

So nearly 4 years later, despite reacquiring his company name back, he now finds himself facing bankruptcy once again due from the legal/attorney fees in which they still have not recovered from to this day..

With that being said ! Now you know exactly why Saleen has neither the ability nor resources to build let alone sell his S550 Black/Yellow edition Mustangs..

Okay,.......I got a confession. I was still looking for a S302 Black Label Mustang. lol UNTIL,..........I got this email from a local Ford dealership today that was once a certified Saleen dealership.
This email pretty much seals the deal. I'm done with it. It's too bad because I really, really like the car.

Glad you walked away, Tony. It would have been heartbreaking to read any of your future postings about problems you were having.

Is there anything else in your sights, or is your Roush here to stay for a while?

Yeah,....I would have been PISSED OFF. For that amount of money,....the vehicle better be darn near perfect. Especially if I had traded in the Roush for it. The only reason I would trade the Roush in for that car is the price. It's expensive. lol I DO LOVE my Roush, I want to keep it. The more I drive it, like this week for example, the more I fall in love.
I get thumbs up, nods, people asking me about the car, and stares all the time.

Tony ! The warranty issues in the email from the local dealership you posted are exactly what Terry warned you about in his posts and now you have definitive proof that he was right from the very beginning..

So according to the email you posted, not only are they no longer an authorized Ford/Saleen dealership but you would also have to ship a base GT over to Saleen just in order to get the Black Label conversion package..

So here's my question.. What happens after forking out 80k + shipping and then you need warranty work done, I suppose you would have to ship your car back to Saleen every time a warranty issue comes up right ?

Well I believe your also fully aware that once your car has been modified, you can pretty much kiss your factory Ford warranty goodbye, as Ford will not honor your Saleen warranty as there are no longer any authorized Ford/Saleen dealerships in existence.. Therefore IMHO your Saleen warranty pretty much becomes useless as far as I'm concerned..

And here's another scenario for you.. Let's just say if you were able to ship your car back to Saleen every time a warranty issue came up.. Would you be able to contact a real live person to follow up and check the status of your car's progress and last but not least.. Who knows how long they would have your car before finally getting it back ?

I'll just put it this way, if you get just as excited as I do every time I get behind the wheel of my Mustang.. Waiting around for weeks and perhaps even months at a time before being able to drive my Mustang again would not be acceptable nor an option whatsoever lol.

At any rate, as much as I really like the Black Label edition.. With Saleen's track record and credibility issues, there is no way in hell I'd be willing to risk losing 80k of my hard earned money..

With that being said Tony... You made the right decision in walking away from Saleen

I can only imagine the extent of that problems that they had to have with Saleen to break relations and be the first thing they tell people who are inquiring about them.

This is exactly the reason why there are no authorized Ford/Saleen dealerships in existence anymore because part of those problems they had with Saleen was lack of dealer support, plus their financial and credibility issues were also major contributing factors as well..

It's no wonder why practically every Ford dealership has broken relations with Saleen and I commend them for telling people whom inquire about them as a direct result..

With that being said ! Saleen has absolutely no credibility left which is exactly why Ford dealerships have dissolved their partnerships with them altogether as Ford knows full well that Saleen already has one foot in the grave and is that much closer to extinction..
