Anyone try using a 17 inch rim on the 2013 gt...I don't have the bembro package. I have snows already, just want to buy the rim to fit.

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on these. I'm really close to pulling the trigger on a set for my g/f's car.

You can fit 17s. Just depends on the offset and backspacing. I'd go with Ford police interceptor steel wheels.

i did not know if the 17"s would fit is why I did 18", since I have the performance package I have the larger front brakes. I wanted to make sure I had clearance. On the Continental Extremes I had them on my 2003 and on my 1996 BMW Z3. I loved those tires is why I put them on both cars.

i've been contemplating a similar set-up because I'm starving to replace the stockers. But instead of going staggered, i'm thinking 255/35/20's Kuhmo Ecsta 4x all-seasons all the way around on 20x8.5 wheels. Contact patch would be better than the measly 235 pirelli's on my factory 18's, but still skinny enough for driving in the winter. The tires are supposed to be pretty good for light snow. I don't drive the car on days when the snow is really bad.

Thinking about getting these and painting them a dark, titanium gunmetal. With tires, it would come out to a little over $1200. I'd feel comfortable rocking them until early summer next year. Would give me time to put some cash aside for a roush tvs and a nice staggered set-up (preferably 360 forged's ).

I'm thinking of paying a little more and getting 20" AR Torq Thrust M's in Black w/ machined lip. 20x8.5 up front, and 20x10 out back, and just put all season tires on it. If I sell my stock brembo wheels/tires, I could get back at least half of my investment, and just run all-seasons on it all the time.

Am I crazy? maybe.

On days where the snow is to deep. They will more than likely call off school in the area and I will steal my wife's Fiesta.. Her car being FWD is great in the snow.

Wrong ... You cannot fit 17" on a 2011+ GT, Brembos or not ... except for some rare exceptions

BTW, the standard GT brakes on a 2011+ have the same diameter clearance as the 14" rotors with Brembos ... this is coming from someone who tried both

Follow the link in the original post above to post 82 in the other thread for more details. I love the tires so far & would recommend them as a replacement for summer only tires. I do not plan on driving in the snow and do not know how these tires will do in the snow.

This is just false. Maybe the calipers might have similar overall diameter with the standard brakes and the Brembos, but that isn't the only thing that determines the clearance.

Your brakes are the same as the standard V6 with different pads. Unless something changed for 2013...

I said diameter clearance ... Of course the offset clearance required is more with the brembos

False the caliper bracket is different to accommodate the larger 13.2in rotors ... And the GT has always had larger rotors than the v6 for the same model year ... At least since 2005 !

And that's why I said maybe diameter clearance. Which yes, I don't know exactly, but with 13.2" rotors the calipers can't be THAT big that all 17" wheels won't clear them. 94-04 Cobras have dual piston calipers and run 17" wheels, and there are even 15" drag wheels that will clear them (as well as the current brakes).

The Performance package is what makes the difference.. I believe I have read they are the GT Brakes with different pads.

First of all, 99-04 Cobras had 13" not 13.2" and 17" barely clear them. Here are some pics of BAER brakes on a 99-04 Cobra spindle and Cobra R wheels.

Good luck fitting 15" on 13"+ rotors ... do the math !

End of discussion.

working at a ford dealership you get to know these things

Exactly, same calipers, different (12.8") rotors. All the calipers have been the same since 2011. Ford touts your brakes as GT brakes in the brochures, but the truth is even the standard V6 has "GT brakes." They are the same GT brakes as the 2005-2010 cars.
