Have a Brembo stang, what springs? (other than 55D)
Have a brembo stang and would like to lower it no more than 1.25 inches. I like the way stock gt non brembo car looks with 1-1.25 drop. I never drop my car more than this because of geometry and fear of lost performance. I don't want a real rough ride either.
I see a bunch of people using the gt500 stop hats/strut bearings. Why is that, why are the needed?
I was looking at the L springs....I don't see the P springs that everyone talks about

the GT500 strut mount was a heavy duty part in comparison to the stock Mustang ('05-'10) mount and on the '11-'13 the struts have a thicker shaft so the mount is different then the older models so to change struts to ones that are readily available you must change your strut mounts to the older version

I'm sure there must be some '13 type struts out there but most of the performance kits out there now are of the older design
I'm still runing the stock struts on mine for now(since they are new)

My friend has a Brembo 2012 and we both agree it is under shocked for the springs that are on it now. Lower springs should be stiffer and the stock shocks won't work with stiffer springs. Don't assume stiffer springs mean worse ride quality often soft springs and poor shocks can't handle the the fluid transfer rates inside the shock needed for a impact event and the shocks pack up meaning they fail to respond to the hit. A stiffer spring with a better shock can absorb the impact and therefore has a better ride. The worst ride comes when the car hits the bump stops and this happens much more often on a lowered car with progressive springs. They promise much and deliver little.

I've had lower cars and coilover cars. My main focus is I dont want to loose the performance I have now. If anything I want more (with in reason of cost obiviously)

Take a look at BMR, good drag strip spring. If you're looking for a spring with a little more stiffness take a look at hotchkis. Both offer decent drops without being real aggressive.

For me the Steeda Sports springs + Koni STRT shocks + the GT500 strut top mount, really worked, improved handling, great looks and is not that low that will scrap everywhere, also fixed the up & down ride of the stock brembo package. I believe that is 1 in. Lowered on the front and 1.25 in. In the back for a more level look

Another side effect of lowering that I have not seen much discussion about is curb rash on the front chin splitter.
Those of you who have the Steeda Sports springs or any other 1 inch drop springs in front, do you have issues with damage to your chin splitter from parking curbs or speed bumps?
I am considering springs as well, but if I wind up hitting parking curbs or speed bumps all the time it may not be worth it.
Any comments?

With your car being lowered or even having an aftermarket front fascia ... you will learn what to be careful with. I have the Steeda Q series front fascia on my car and I don't have to many issues ... at least I don't now. I have learned my limitations when it comes to parking blocks and driveways.
You will learn to keep your car far enough away from a parking block so that you don't scrape the splitter ... same thing with driveways ... you have to angle out of them as opposed to backing straight out.
Its a force of habit now and I don't really scrape that much at all. Now, you will have some inclines that will cause you to scrape lowered or not lowered ... that is just the joy of owning a sports car.
Never had an issue with a speed bump.
Best Regards,
TJ
