Played with a Lotus on the saw mill river pkwy in NY. I only have 150 miles on her. I'm not mashing her to bad yet we went back & forth in the curves & left him when we came to a straight.

So we all know the boss is made for handling. But how much of an advantage does it have over a PP equipped shelby? I haven't driven one but its supposed to be pretty stout and worlds apart from the stock 07-09. Weight distribution is still a problem but I have heard that the spring rate and shock tuning handle it pretty well.

Not sure because the only one I've run across on track was a vert and it was his first time on the road course so not a fair fight I'm curious as well. I'm guessing the gap will widen for the Boss after about 5 laps due to heat soak....

Boss is with a capital "B," and yes, it is important.

That will be interesting as well because in 2011 they upgraded the intercooler and charge temps are a lot less with much less heatsoak. It is also supposed to be worlds apart. I wonder if they will update it again when the new power levels hit.

I had heard that as well. I saw a '12 at a cruise in last night but it wasn't a PP car. I did have a '12 SVTPP car egg me into pulling a few gears getting onto the interstate last week and I obliged him with my "baby" Boss and was surprised the GT500 didn't really pull away

Not sure, the gearing should be equal. Btw the 2012 has 550 hp not 505. I am sure it was a typo as this proves your point even more . Power to weight is huge here. Did you guys stay dead even? I really am interested in this as my next purchase will be one or the other. If ford brings the boss with a shaker next year I am inclined to seal the deal. I had a mach 1 and loved the shaker. My problem is that the 500 is built so stoutly you can pretty much throw anything at it and when the next model comes out it will see a substantial bump in hp. As mentioned in the tuning thread I really think ford is trying to keep the "mod money" in house by offering higher hp applications from the factory.

Rick's 505 hp comment is a reference to a track day video spoof We stayed even as long as I was willing to test it on a public road so to really know you'd have to test on a track. That said on most road courses you're never going to hit the cars top speed so it's more about how available is the torque . From what I could gather from that brief experiment I'd trade the extra 106 crank hp for the balance of the Boss. The Boss' gearing and trans ratios are optimized for the road course as well. Check the trans ratios on the MT-82 vs the T6060.

Sorry I missed it. Have a link, I would like to be in on the joke . Anyway I know that 6th is the real difference and with a roots type super charger in place the torque advantage is to the shelby. Its just got the extra girth to contend with. The other thing is the redline is obviously higher in the boss which should equate to less shifting in the twisties. In my mach I could stay in third which was nice. The rpm is much lower on the shelby so that is a distinct disadvantage for road coarse but not for quarter mile which is what the shelby's trans ratio's are optimized for. I am worried about the mt-82 given all the recent problems. It harkens back to the shifting/synchro's on the TR 3650.

The joke starts at post #206 https://themustangsource.com/f813/wh...96106/index11/

The GT500 is 1:1 in 4th and it's 1:1 in 5th in the Boss, etc.

Thanks cloud9. Reality is in a quarter mile if you aren't shifting into fourth until the stripe (in which case you will usually want a more agressive gear and hold onto third) so I look at the first three, which the shelby is a little more agressive on. Thank you for the intelligent conversation. That is why I have been a member here so long. The passion, the knowledge, and of course the company

So the question I have is: is the new Boss motor capable of 600+RWHP on a stock long block and still hold up road racing? By means of forced induction of course. Has anyone seen any articles or builds on them yet?

With the proper tuning I don't see why not.

Of course, there is nothing that the Boss can't do, haven't you read the hundreds of threads on here? Its the single greatest car that has ever rolled on the street. The reason people are having to wait so long to get them is because Jesus and the Pope only have 2 days a week when they can get together to build them.

Ok you got me there. I knew there was a factory in the Vatican city. But forgot they were a gift from god. My bad. I'll guess that I will stick with my Baptist version for now. Hehe
Really would like to see and 11:1 compression motor hold up to 10+ psi. though.

My Boss must be the Benny Hinn version. I was taking it for a walk last night after dinner. It dropped behind and when I turned and shouted the command "heel!", the car ran up, put its right front tire on my forehead and said a prayer. I stopped all my vices after that.

Jesus rides shotgun in all the new Bosses. And the Dahli Lamma rides in the LS. 12th son of the Lamma. I think Satan rides with me. Always trying to get me in trouble and making me push it until I lose control. Plastic Jesus please keep this thing on the road.
