Your BOSS moment of the day
Was driving down the highway not speeding, a Bentley Flying Spur was speeding down the road pretty quickly. He then suddenly slowed down when he came up beside me so that he could give me a thumbs up before flying off.
Guess it's a sign your car is pretty cool when it even impresses a guy in a Bentley!

Had a grandmother approach me and tell me that her 7 year old grandson (eating ice cream) want to tell me something:
The boy told me that he loves my race car and that he is a big race car fan and wants one. I thanked him and told that he should never loose that dream of being a race car driver. Dreams can come true.
I wanted to buy him another ice cream after that. This kid, made me feel special.

^Very cool!
The BOSS took him a 3rd trophy in as many shows, this time 3rd place. We were packing up getting ready to leave when a father & son on bicycles rode up and oogled over the car for a few minutes, to include calling it a "race car".

I was at the local discount super store in my adopted home town of Brighton, MI today. As I was walking away from my Car (Parked WAAAY out ) and an old timer stopped me and asked if that was my car and I answered yes. He said you know they used to make them right over there (pointing over to a small industrial park in the middle of town right next to the super store). I thought he was refering to the company of Cars and Concepts that used to Have Ford Mustangs sent out to Brighton to be converted into Convertables when Ford ceased to make convertables on the production line in the late 70's early 80's.
I said yah, the Mustang convertables. He said no, the Boss! He said " Yah, they made um in all those crazy bright green and blue an yeller colors". Said "there sure were a bunch of um runn'en round town those days".
SO, when I got Home I Googled it and sure enough, a company called Kar Kraft had a shop here in Brighton that took 69 and 70 Mustangs and made them into Boss 429's. Just one of the cool things about living in the Detroit area if your a car guy!

I work in a clean room environment where we make semiconductor capital equipment- basically machines for making computer chips. As I'm making my way through the clean room the Vietnamese assemblers all start saying, "here comes the Boss, here comes the Boss!" Like they were warning each other that their "manager" was walking through. We all got a good laugh.

Ever hear of Fusion Semiconductor? The company I work for, Fusion UV, was its sister Company. Fusion semiconductor used to sell UV exposure systems for photo etching the semi Conductor wafers? They would sell to companies that integrate the UV into the larger semiconductor manufacturing system. Fusion Semiconductor got purchased by a company called Eaton but I think the went belly up, or something like that.
Another Boss moment was driving it home in a downpour today. In California. In late June. The previous record for today was .02" in 1952! I must say I would have much rather been in the big old 4x4 crew cab diesel with all the standing water on the freeway..
Driving home yesterday through town there is a little 5ish year old boy riding his bike around in his driveway as I go by. He just gawks at me, watching as I go by...so I give him a couple revs and he just smiles ear to ear and continues to ride around in circles happy as can be. I love that.
Was pulling up to a stop light and saw a brand new GT500 with dealer plates coming up behind so I pulled over to the right lane so he could pull up next to me. He goes "Is that a GT500? His 8 year old son goes "No Dad, that's a Boss". So I let him go ahead of me and pulled in behind to get on the interstate. He decides to take off so just for kicks (assuming I had no chance thinking about my GT500 at home in the garage) I decide to see if I can run with him. We pulled a few gears and surprisingly he couldn't really pull away. I'm just amazed how much they're getting out of this little 5.0.
I'm pretty sure the Shelby had a limited break in tune from the factory. So he probably wasn't boosting but a few psi. A friend of mine said his was dog slow for a couple thousand miles until it allowed full boost. Just saying.

If I'd have been in my GT500 I would have probably broken his kid's heart. I'm not trying to win a knuckle dragging contest here, I was just observing that the Boss and STOCK GT500 are surprisingly close in a straight line. Add some turns and I really don't see how it's a contest. I still find that Edmunds video suspect and would have liked to see a 5 or 10 lap comparison versus one.
Most of us are buying the Boss because it handles. It's not a drag car. Sure it could be used at a drag strip, but a GT500 is a better straight line car and responds so much better to power mods if that's your goal.
Unfortunately there are no road courses around here yet. Straight line is all we have. But I'm dying to see if the 5.0 motor will hold up to boost. 11:1 compression is a little scary. But if it will, boosted boss will be a BMF. Otherwise 5.4 is still the way to go.
