Your BOSS moment of the day
Went to the car show that was being held in conjunction with the Big Country Airfest on Dyess AFB here in Abilene, TX today. Absolutely beautiful day for a car show, air show, whatever. The BOSS was shining like a diamond and got loooots of attn. With an anticipated 20k people on base for the car show, there was no shortage of people stopping by to check out the car and strike up a conversation. The best is seeing the kids peeking in the window and telling their dads "it's a Mustang!". I am 29 yrs old, no kids of my own, but I hope that never gets old to me.
There were a few local Ford employees down there with a display set up and they had a 2013 V6 Mustang out there. One of the girls working started asking me about the BOSS and we got to talking about the 2015 Mustang design. At that point I thought ok maybe she actually knows what she's talking about. Then she started talking to a guy that walked up asking about Mustangs, and it became immediately clear she didn't know what she was talking about.
For example...
Potential customer: So are they still putting the 302's in 'em for 2013?
Ford sales person: No. Gosh you have to go back to.... the late 80's to the last time they put a 302 in a Mustang, unless you're talking Bronco's or Scouts.

I pointed to my car, sitting 100 yds away, you know, the Boss "302" we were JUST talking about before this guy walked up and I said "My Boss has the 302 in it"
Ford Sales person: Yeah I mean they put the 302 in the Boss back in the late 60's but that's a long time ago.

Potential customer: So they brought the BOSS back? That's cool, how many of those are they making?
BOSS Owner... ahem, "educated" BOSS owner: They're making 3500 per year for 2012 and 2013.
Ford Sales Person: They're making ten thousand a year. Way more than the Shelby's.

I tried correcting her and she gave me this glare like I was ****ing up a potential sale for her. I had to just walk away.
Anyways, I ended up taking first place in the Street Machine class. One last trophy before the BOSS goes into storage then hits the autobahn.

"boss moment"
"boss moment"

How much are they asking for it? Even sticker is asinine at this point with the '13's on the lots.
Driving home from the track at wsir and notice a 335is tailing me and then blowing by me and waiting, I decided it wasnt worth it...I was already feeling pretty high from the track event. He sticks around regardless. Tooling down the highway an f430 pulls up to me and blows by me, he was worth it so I stomped on it and notice a gallardo keeping pace behind me. Next thing you know it was a 4 lane gumball race. Surprisingly all pretty equal incl the 335is that was most definitely tuned. And then to top it off, while we were all wot a Ferrari 458 flys, I mean flys by us. It's now a 5 lane free for all and right in front of us was a Chp officer on his bike. We all stomped on the brakes and split. Couldn't believe my luck that the officer didn't notice us with all of those high profile cars.
Btw I have yet to get a comment about my boss from any chick. They're usually the pimple faced teens or the only other time people notice the boss is on the track. I get a lot of conversations going after they see it on the track.

Must be great to own a Boss.
Must be tough not being the new kid on the block getting all the attn, huh?
I bet the Terminator guys felt the same way when your overproduced Shelby came out in '07. What's that... 7 straight years of production? How does it feel to become mainstream?

Only if there's a blower under the hood and another one in the passenger seat.

Actually had a very nice conversation with a guy that had a 650rwhp+ Shelby today at the car show and both of us were satisfied with what we had.
I'm not sure where you're coming from on that first statement, but do you know why the shelby has been built for 7 years, they have BUYERS!!!!! Why did it take until 2012 to remake a Boss 302? because nobody was missing it or gave a shet!! ...and if ford was so confident in selling the thing, they would've produced more. :no confidence:
As far as why Ford waited so long to bring the BOSS back, I would tell you to watch the BOSS DVD but... well, you didn't get one of those in your owner's package, did you? hmmm.... To quote Dave Pericak...
"Boss is a hallowed word around here, and we couldn't put that name on a new Mustang until we were sure everything was in place to make this car a worthy successor. We were either going to do it right or not do it at all - no one on the team was going to let Boss become a sticker and wheel package."

Shelby has been built for 7 years because Shelby and Ford had a contract. I get it. I also know of a pair of Shelby's that sat on a dealer floor for the better part of a year because there were no buyers. Markets fluctuate and geographically separated areas will see different results, so that point is moot.

Hey man whatever floats your boat. I'm sure GOD is driving around in a Boss 302. Do you think he/she opted for the LS package? :nutty:
