A couple of times I have not been able to get into second gear, at all. After 3-4 stabs it will go in. Another time it happened in 3rd. The only way I have been able to alleviate that is repeatedly going through the 1-2-3-4 shifter pattern after the burn out rolling into staging.

Hello members,

I still recommend you make an appointment with your dealer for diagnosis as soon as possible. Then PM me with your dealer, VIN, mileage, and contact info so I can get this escalated for you.

Thanks, Deysha. I plan to take mine in this week because a TPMS warning came on saturday (and it is still on) saying "low tire pressure", yet all tires are at 35 PSI. I'll see if I can get them to document the tranny issues at the same time. I just hope they don't do the "normal operation, no fault" routine on me.

My apologies to the Ford engineers. I double checked the tire pressures with another gauge and found that my gauge was out of calibration and reading high. Inflated the tires to 35 PSI and the light went off right away.

As for bad shifting, my car has 10k on it now and i have had shift issues from day 1 as mentioned in other trans threads.

the car is fine othr than the slight crunch i mentioned at highway speeds and aroudn town. up to 6500 rpm shifts its fine then. rev the car to 7500 or more and the clutch pedal wont fully release on the 3-4 shift leaving me stuck between gears until rpms fall and then its fine again.

I think scott is having this same issue. i know he was having his car looked at a few weeks back, perhaps they found his issue. A lady with a 11 roush stage 1 in my local club had shifting issues with her car and took it in and it "had something with the flywheel" i suspect it was the bolts.

i had my car in for the issue once and they "couldn't replicate the issue" because they are total, utter, asshats at my local dealer and didn't get the rpms up to where the issue happens.
The sticky clutch is a different issue and I highly doubt it has to do with the bolts. The procedure was changed for that problem a while ago, too much loc-tight put on the bolts and they would not properly seat. I still have the other problem with the car not going into fifth, it jams up.

I found this weekend I could not take my eyes off the track and short shifted fifth quite a bit. The car would enter fifth smoothly but as soon as I would hit the 7500 in fourth I had to fight it into fifth again. I am convinced it is a trans problem at this point since the shift is smooth >7500 and I was not shifting any different @7500.

Have you tried installing a shifter bracket? Seems like an inexpensive item to try and see if it improves your high speed shifting.

My biggest issues are:

Shifting into 3rd at the top of the RPM range - Seems the clutch isn't fully engaging and I get a horrible grinding. I'll engage the clutch pedal to the floor, bring the shifter into neutral, re-engage the clutch and throw it back into 3rd and still get the grinding.

1st gear from a stop. Can't count the number of times I've been at a stoplight and tried to get into first gear, only to have the shifter either not go all the way forward, or psych me into thinking it's in position to where I let off the clutch only to hear grinding and have the shifter kicked back out into neutral. This is predestined to happen when I'm at the front of the line at a stop light, and takes anywhere from 2 to 5 and 6 tries to get the it to go.

I hope you still make an appointment with them for the other concern you're having.

Hi black_bullitt,

Have you brought this up to your Ford dealer’s attention? If not, please make an appointment with them as soon as possible and either way, PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, and contact info so I can escalate this for you.

Deysha please don't take this the wrong way.
When you say your going to "escalate it" for him, what exactly does that mean? What will that do?

Hi Glenn,

Once I get the info, I forward the case to the Customer Service Manager of your area. Then, they work with you and your dealer to get everything resolved. But then… you get Deyshanized!!

I plan to take it to the dealer early next week. The recent cold weather has made it worse. I'll keep you updated, Deysha, and thanks again.

Stuff gets done when Deysha gets on the phones. When my car had the rubbing noise with the LCA's, her phone call got me an appt at the local dealer within a day's time.

Just a bump on this topic, has anyone found a consistent fix to the issue of a bit of grinding between gears? As weather has gotten colder I'm getting a bit of grind (very small) between mostly 1-2. Wondering if there is a heads up I can give my dealer or possibly replace fluid first...
Thx

Take it into the dealer and have them check the bearings and the gears themselves.
