Tranny issues

I remember earlier this year the transmission issue got beat to death, is anyone experiencing any problems shifting.

I am, I loved the way the tranny felt at first, but recently I am having problems shifting in pretty much all gears. It feels as if I didn't depress the clutch pedal all the way and it the shifter bounces on the cogs of the selected gear until it drops in. Let alone drag racing. A couple of times I have not been able to get into second gear, at all. After 3-4 stabs it will go in. Another time it happened in 3rd. The only way I have been able to alleviate that is repeatedly going through the 1-2-3-4 shifter pattern after the burn out rolling into staging. Anyone else having this issue?

I have it too, but less than you. I have an occasional 1-2 nibble (it still goes into 2nd, but not smoothly) and I have to be completely stopped to get it into first without kick back. Otherwise it is OK.

You guys are making me worry about this happening to my CO Boss that is scheduled to be built 12/12/11. Mine will definitely see the dragstrip on occaision, so it needs to handle shifting at 7500 RPM without fail.

Change your tranny fluid to something better than the OEM ****.

My car was shifting rough, changed out the tranny fluid and shifts smooth as butter. It isn't a boss though...

I for one don't follow my owner's manual to the letter. As for new tranny fluid, look into Redline MTL, Royal Purple 75w90 gear oil or Amsoil MTG.

While I still get an occasional grind into 2nd, usually at low RPM's, mine has gotten much better with more miles and I now have 3,000 on it. I would say mine shifts excellent and I didn't think that when it was new.

If yours has gotten worse I'd take it to the dealer and have them check it. They should also check the clutch and TO bearing. Also I've read Redline MTL and RP both help including shifting when cold.

Get your clutch inspected. The clutch plate bolts may be backing out.

I am having the same issues but I do not race it. I had the fluid replaced and it helped but did not eliminate the issue. When the car is cold and for about 20 minutes it is worst, but it still is there when warm or hot.

has any one replaced the oil to Redline MTL, Royal Purple 75w90 gear oil or Amsoil MTG and also replaced the shifter. From what I hear and read. Replaceing the oil will only help a small bit. but replaceing both the oil and shifter will cure the grinding and hard to get gears.
Anyone out there that has done both to there tranny please post your findings to help other that are having issuies.

I've had no issues whatsoever. It's not the smoothest 1-2 shift in the world but otherwise, it has been a very nice transmission.

i had the trans fluid replaced a week or so back, went with redline mtl in trans and royal purple in the rear diff. the trans shifts smoother now, but i still get a slight crunch on the 1-2 when the car is cold and occasionally at other times. As for bad shifting, my car has 10k on it now and i have had shift issues from day 1 as mentioned in other trans threads.

the car is fine othr than the slight crunch i mentioned at highway speeds and aroudn town. up to 6500 rpm shifts its fine then. rev the car to 7500 or more and the clutch pedal wont fully release on the 3-4 shift leaving me stuck between gears until rpms fall and then its fine again.

I think scott is having this same issue. i know he was having his car looked at a few weeks back, perhaps they found his issue. A lady with a 11 roush stage 1 in my local club had shifting issues with her car and took it in and it "had something with the flywheel" i suspect it was the bolts.

i had my car in for the issue once and they "couldn't replicate the issue" because they are total, utter, asshats at my local dealer and didn't get the rpms up to where the issue happens.

Try taking it to another dealer maybe?

Have you thought about installing the MGW shifter assembly?

BM,

The car is away for the winter, so I cannot get this done. I am trading it off in the spring on something else. I have thought about it with all the transmission issues and even emailed the transmission manufacturer without any real responses as to the problems except propaganda saying that their products are among the worlds best. I get the feeling that I am going to have regrets if I hold on to it and take a hit on price down the road so my research on the internet and responses from Ford about Trackey have left me with a bad taste and the decision to rid myself of the potential problems.

Sadly, I was so enthusiastic about getting a good price on the car and waiting for the Trackey.

John
