Rollbars - does anyone have one yet?
I spoke with numerous local and out of state fabricators about a 4 point cage for my Boss and the conclusion from 2 highly respected shops in the area were:
-buy the Maximum Motorsports 4 pt cage
-install the Sparco race seat
-have local shop weld in harness bar and cross brace to fit the seat/harness
-have fun
By far, I am no expert. Just sharing what I've been told by others who specialize in safety equipment. Any feedback appreciated! BTW I'll prob weld in for integrity.

Although you're not interested in certification, are you planning to use materials to SCCA/FIA spec? I think latest is .120" wall DOM tubing.

i think it was last year that one of the cars that was on the cover of 5.0 mag got into an accident not long after the issue was put out. it was a grabber blue 10GT IIRC. anyway, the accident it was in was rather odd it hit a tire wall and flipped **** over nose and landed on the roof, the roll bar probably saved the driver's life. i do recall it was bolted to the floor pan and the impact was so hard it drove the roll bar though the floor.
FWIW I have a Maximum 6 pt in my PJ. VERY nice design IMO.
If I didn't want to use the backseat, we'd plan it slightly differently. I plan to use extensive padding on the exposed sections of the bar. and, because of the welding, we will not attempt to sell what we've made. if it turns out well, I'll be happy to refer you the builder for those of you that are local. Robb @ BRR indicated this past week that they completed the install on your bar/bracing. Any photos you can share of the completed project?

not done yet
we completed the scoping of the project (determined all connection points / layout / etc) but I haven't yet had it installed...I've been dragging my feet on it....I've just been very busy with the rest of life ;-)
I will certainly let you all know when it's done.

All - yes, we are in process of fabb'ing a roll bar for the Boss. We are making 5 of them to start - we have 4 pre-sold. Our Cool Tech car is the guinea pig at the fab shop - being used to come up with the design and installability, etc. We plan to have an identical race red powder coat color match for the LS cars but we can entertain other color requests. Our first priority (because this is what we have access too) is the LS cars and where we don't have seat fitment. So, LS owners will have another roll-bar option - and "normal" 302 owners who are willing to opt for a rear seat delete kit may consider us as well. We are looking to a functional and visual tie-in to the LS cross brace. (Also admittedly looking at offering a cross brace option for the Boss cars who want to do rear seat delete.) My expectations is that the design elements will be done at the end of next week.... although the Holiday hampers us a little bit. Once satisfied that we have a solid design - we will look at the potential to have a version for rear-seat cars. (I'm not totally sold on this because even a minor accident with a roll bar and rear seat passengers is NOT a pretty story - and I don't want this on my shoulders.)
We know buyers have choices and we know that we have to have something compelling compared to what is and may become available. We have a couple of tricks up the sleeve that I don't want to reveal as I think it provides some differentiation.
Being totally realistic, early December availability is a best case for us - although I should have some pics and pricing before that. Thanks to anyone willing to hang out and see what we'll have.

I had my cage installed a couple months ago by my local shop. It started out as a standard Maximum Motorsports 4 point cage
http://www.maximummotorsports.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=309_415_502 &products_id=1289
and then the harness bar and additional bracing were added after the Sparco seat install. Excellent finished product. My fabricator gave the MM cage
for quality and design. It saved him time and me some $$. Let me know if you have any questions

We know that MM is the one to beat. There are opportunities. We will be entirely bolt-in. No welding. Unique joints - no slip fit with thru-bolts like GT3's which just look hideous. Fitment to roofline contours will be best in class....
1. The bar doesn't follow the roof line of the car that well...especially in the top left and right corners.....
2. I don't want to see any thru-bolts. It looks cheap and ugly...
It looks like we are on the same page for this one......
I agree and very interested.
I would rather weld my cage in. Not a fan of bolts sticking out everywhere. I presume that bolt in cages can be welded in instead of bolting? Granted, I may have to strip the car a little further, but I just couldn't stand to see the bolts from underneith every time I lifted it up.

Welding:Bolting LOL.... we all have our fetishes!!
Fundamentally, one method is not inherently stronger/better than the other. (In an all out race car, aka the 302S, these will always be welded - but they're done as the car is being maunfactured.) There can be both good and bad designs of each. I too don't like to see bolts - especially in wheel wells. There may be alternatives....
