I too have installed a roll hoop in my LS. I used the Schroth six point , I do not like the four. Some clubs will not let you run with the four point even if it is dot approved. Schroth makes a great link kit for our cars where you can just remove the seat bet bolts and replace with the ones on the kit and snap the lap belts in and out. The sub belt can go thru the seat on the drivers side but not on the passenger side due to the gel-pack installed in the seat.At the track I just put the std. seat belts around the seat and snap them it to prevent the buzzer from driving me nuts. I paint the hoop Ford race red, It took a lot of paint.

Ok you put the sub straps through your Factory Recaro’s?

Any pictures of how you did this?

Cut it and had an upholstery shop sew up the edges?

How did you mount the sub straps?

Drill through the floor and mount them with a piece of steel plate?

Once I get a four point roll bar (Kendall), I’m thinking I’m going to install a Sparco seat on the driver’s side for track days.

I’m not sure the two piece (reclining) stock seats are the best way to go if you have a roll bar and are using a harness.

When you this far what’s point in keeping the stock seat for track days?

Four bolts, unclip the harness and remove the seat, bolt in the race seat and go…………..

Yes you will get the Air Bag Light but that light doesn’t affect anything………..

Just shut the seat belt minder off, it is in the manual and easy to do.

Here are some pics of the Miller cars, the harness bar is in the same position. My seat is lifted about three pumps.

Thank you very much cloud nine. If someone sends me a pm I will send them the pis of the sub-belt inserts and install and they can post if you would like. Clould nine is there a way to read the tire pressue monitior all the time vs just a problem signal?. The seat inserts were installed with super glue to prevent the pulling of the fabric. The inserts allso do not come appart once you put them together.

Hey Jim I was just joining you in thanking Scott for pointing out the way to shut off the Belt Minder. He's the one that pointed it out to me last night.

Are you asking if the TPMS monitor can display the current psi? If so, I don't know how to do that.....

Just some other info...........

Here's a picture of how much higher the harness bar is mounted in an FR500C for reference.

SHOULDER STRAPS
The purpose of the shoulder straps is to anchor the driver's torso against the seat. Although brevity is necessary with all the belts, you especially want to keep the shoulder straps as short as possible because they are the longest pieces of the system. Any safety harness will allow a certain percentage of stretch, so the longer the belt, the more overall stretch it will allow. To minimize shoulder-belt length, the belts should mount to a rollcage bar almost directly behind the driver's seat and approximately level with his or her shoulder blades (or slightly higher).

The height of the shoulder strap mounts is critical because if they are too low they can actually compress the driver's spine in a collision. But if the mounting position is too high, the driver will be allowed to slide up in his or her seat if the car is overturned.

VanGilder says that the location of the shoulder strap mounts depends on the position of the driver. The mounts should be at a 90-degree angle to the line of the driver's spine. That means if the seat is more reclined, the mounts should be lower. But if the seat has the driver sitting up straight, the mounts should be higher. No modifications are necessary depending on whether the driver wears a head-and-neck restraint such as a HANS Device. Remember that these guidelines for properly mounting your seat and belts could be the difference between walking away from a crash and being carried out on a stretcher. But there is no substitute for talking with the belt and seat manufacturer. The manufacturer you choose will offer resources to help you properly mount your seat and belts.

Here’s what can be monitored via the OBDT II / CANBUS port, this is for the 2010 so the Boss 302 might be different.

If you look at this pic, the bar is within 0 to 10 degrees below the driver's shoulder blades. The holes in the seat are higher, but not the anchor point. I'm assuming Ford wouldn't set these up in a hazardous manner?

Our Recaro's are not real "motorsports" seats, our cars are designed first as a street legal passenger cars.

That's why Ford Racing offers Ford branded Sparco's.............

Can you use a stock seat in a "race car", yes.

Taken from the NASA CCR

11.4.12 Seats
All seats must be securely fastened to the structure of the car such that they are strong enough to withstand a major impact. If replaced, the replacement seat should be installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

If stock seats are to be used with a roll bar/cage, care should be taken to prevent the seat from submarining under the rollbar. Care should also be taken to prevent the occupant from hitting his/her head on the roll bar/cage.

Passenger seats must meet the same requirements, per the CCR, as the driver seat, if used by passengers. Note- The passenger seat does not have to match the driver’s seat.

--------------------

So now I'm going to give my opinion here.

“Caveat Emptor”

HPDE / Time Attack:

1. Stock seat, stock seat belt, minimum level of safety.

2. Install roll bar, stock seat, stock seat belt, one step up on the level of safety

3. Install roll bar with properly placed harness bar and for additional roll over protection a diagonal bar, install harness, stock seat, cut seat so you can install anti-submarine belts

4. Install roll bar with properly placed harness bar and for additional roll over protection a diagonal bar, install harness, FIA approved race seats.

The only problem here each step takes some of the street friendliness away……………

If you make the decision to do steps 3 or 4 you need to read the SSCA CCRs and/or the NASA CCR, because if you do this you have "lost" the OEM safety and if you install stuff not in accordance with the rules you comprise your safety.

Also some instructors will not get into a car if you have protection and they don’t or if aftermarket “safety” equipment isn’t installed correctly.

I guess the reason I’m a little **** on this stuff is that I skydive, I wouldn’t cut a corner with my equipment there and when I’m thinking about modding a car for the track it makes no “cents” to cut corners on safety there either.

I am somewhere between 3 and 4 right now. I am going to see how my stock seat lines up with the harness bar and I have a 6 point harness with anti-sub belts that attach over the edge of the seat. I'm considering putting in an FIA approved race seat for track days, but haven't decided on that yet.

Well, you've got the roll protection, so you might as well install the harnesses and an FIA seat...

All I know is my roll bar and belts worked perfectly yesterday! I do not need to break out a protractor or theodolite and figure out the angles since I was quite pleased to have the setup done in time for Daytona, I am sure it saved a lot of neck and back pain for this old guy!!!

Pulled them down tight and almost like a race car driver Now if you guys would buy some more discs I could afford a Hans Device :hint: :hint:

How's inside the cabin with noise. Is it alot louder? Did the roll bar stiffen up the ride and if so how will that affect street driving.
