When I talked to Dave Pericak (chief engineer for the Mustang) at the 2013 Mustang Reveal last November and asked him about how many years the Boss will be sold, all that the company would allow him to say is that "History will repeat itself" -- implying that the Boss 302 will be a 2-year production run (just like 69-70) and that there will be a 1-year run of the Boss 351 (like 71). This is plausible with the new 5.8L engine being in the 2013 GT500 (351ci = 5.75L).

Thanks, and you shouldn't run into any problems running a staggered tire in a square wheel setup

Thanks. It is a little better for the street since it's slightly shorter than the LS splitter. I was dragging the stock splitter a little loading it on the trailer so I picked up some Race Ramps a couple weeks ago. It will clear with no problem now. CJ sells it as does Rehagen. I actually just ordered it through my dealer since he charged me less than it was online. Install requires you remove the bumper cover to replace a couple bolts to install the bracket.

how did you jack the rear of the car up for the jackstands? curious....the way i jacked it up i would now have to remove the side exhaust to access the jack area.

To do it correctly you need to replace two of the bolts in the bumper. What I found is I could start the nuts on the two short bolts by hand then get a couple of turns to tighten them down. It's not the right way but it works and I do not feel it is unsafe.

I will replace the two bolts myself when I do pull the bumber cover off, that will be when I install the tow hooks.

No need to do that, the pinch weld in front of the side pipe outlet is plenty strong. In fact I have been lifting from the center of the car along the pinch weld now since it is easier and faster to change both tire with one jacking. However at home when I have time I still lift one tire at a time. IMHO it is best to use jack stands on the rear axle.

Also, I would recommend you use a cover on the jack, Harborfreight sells them.

thanks for the tip scott, i never lifted the car up by that, so of course im a little hesitant. ill look into it more.
also a question on the discs for the side exhaust. do you know what the factory size of the hole is? compared to the ones you sell?

I will see what I can do on Sunday. In the mean time if you look just on the inside of the side plastic rocker molding you will see a big metal lip pointed down from wheel to wheel, that is the pinch weld. You will also see points where is separates, that helps with the lifting.

The stock disc is 5/16. The ones I have had made start at 1/2 then 5/8, 3/4, 7/8 and one inch. It does not sound like a big difference between them but it does make a big difference in the sound.

I raised the rear of the car (after raising the front) by raising the differential with a piece of wood and a floor jack. I then put jackstands with wood under the pinch joints of the rear rocker panels.

wow i would have never thought that it was that strong on those welds. ill have to try it one day. thanks for the info.

2012yellowboss, i might be interested in your 5/8" plates. do you think i would have any trouble with emissions here in MD with those in since they are after the cats? let me know if you have them and what i need to do to get a pair.

The pinch welds are very strong and I actualy prefer to lift on the pinch welds and use jack stands with blocks on the frame points and axle at the rear. There is also another lift point circled in yellow on our cars, this comes from a good authority that actually designed it.

I will send you a PM on the discs so I don't hijack another thread. For the emissions I can not say 100% but I am 99.999% sure it will not have any effect on the emissions.
