A little chicken poop by Ford..

So let me make sure I get this right.
It's the dealers fault for not catching the chrome error.
So does that make it walmarts fault if I buy a gallon of 5w20 motor oil and the bottle was missmarked and was really powersteering fluid? After all Walmart was the retailer

Apples and oranges, but I bet you would take it back to Wal-Mart to exchange it

So how long did you guys drive your Bosses before you discovered the problem? How many never noticed it until it was brought up in this thread? I'm sure that the guys doing the PDI's missed it also because it's not a very noticeable problem. The dealer has the power to replace it unless ford tells them otherwise. It's an assembly mistake that you can't blame your dealers for. Get Deysha involved and maybe she can get something done at the level above the dealer.

The question is. Is it walmarts fault.
There are panels all over that car. Many owners never noticed it. Very few did. What makes you think a tech (who most likely doesn't specialize in mustangs, particularly bosses) would notice it?

Right. Just like the boss owners are doing with the dealers.

The guy that does my PDI's is a very good tech and is very thorough. I'm 99% sure he would miss it.
Which is why if/when the customer finally did notice it, I would make it right, as it would be my responsibility to the customer to keep them happy and right my (the dealership's) mistake (which technically was Ford's mistake but as stated the dealer assumes liability after delivery).

Interesting thread.
Question for Pace, if the vent bezel were to break naturally under warranty (just go with it), would the dealer be obligated to replace it with the actual Boss bezel, or would it be the Shelby bezel since that is what the owner signed off on when he bought it? Just curious.

So you take it back to Walmart. Now... Do you hold Walmart accountable for the missing parts. Or do you hold the manufacturing company accountable for it?

It's really not all that different.
Let's say I buy a TV from Wal-Mart. Get it home unpack it and it's missing the battery cover for the remote. I don't call Panasonic, I go back to Wal-Mart and they get me another remote.
No if the picture goes out 6 months later, I contact Panasonic.

It's obviously a Flat Rock assembly error. The dealer will charge the factory for the error. I had a seam stitch broken on my Recaro Passenger seat and the dealer sent me to an outside firm to make it right. Guess who paid? Not the dealer. Also, had two minor paint issues that had to be fixed. Dealer body shop fixed but guess who paid? Factory. If you have cosmetic issues get them fixed within 12 months of delivery or you are SOL.
