Once this thing is finally released, I wonder just how secure the 'magic programming' inside the key will be? No matter what safeguards and security you put on software, it's usually only a matter of time before someone figures out a way to hack, crack, or copy it. The only recourse the creators have is to just make it extremely difficult or prohibitively expensive to do it.

TracKey is Ford's Everlasting Gobstopper.
How long before a Mr. Slugworth comes along asking to take a look at one of our TracKey enabled cars...??

Thanks for the info, even if it is bad news. Guess I don't have to worry about CARB like the rest of these guys now. Hopefully TracKey will be available in two years when I get back to the states!
No problem, Boss1409. Hopefully something changes before then.

Doesn't help me really, as I extended Storage as long as I could but my car goes away Sunday October 29. If it's approved and all, why can't I get in in prior to that weekend? October 23 for what is probably my last track event would be good. Otherwise I will be waiting until April, which really isn't my ideal scenario. And watch my dealership conveniently forget by then that the were installing it free thanks to the ADM I originally paid. Bah!

Exactly my thoughts as well....

Show me the MONEY!

Ford Racing (Mark Wilson) you have made us owner's wait and wait for this Marketing hyped option beyond belief and now you continue the standoff for yet another month until the "correct" national forum comes up to make your announcement.

Can anyone else see what blunders Ford Racing has taken? Or is it only me...?

Absolutely absurd.

After doing some research, I found the TracKey programming is currently only available in the US and Canada. The Boss was not produced for retail markets outside of North America and therefore dealers out of the country were not provided with access to the tools to activate it. Any approved Boss 302s (through Ford Export) have export engine calibrations and therefore are ineligible for TracKey programming. Once US Military comes home with their cars they may be able to get this upload. If I find any more relevant info, I'll let you know.

You have got to be kidding! I don't believe that the cars that came off the truck and got shipped overseas immediately have received any different engine calibration than cars that stayed in the US.

I am going to check with my Ford contact here and will report what he says.

October 7th - CARB clearance announcement
November 2nd – Availability announcement
??? – Available at dealership

I’ll put the over/under at Thanksgiving (under before turkey day, over after) Who’s in on the bet?

I'll take over - I'm betting the tune will be available in December.

Your car is 50 state emissions. Says so right on your window sticker. I see no reason why it would have been modified unless it was a requirement of bringing it into Germany, which would have been absurdly expensive.
