they haven't had round headlamps since 1978.

Not sure where that sketch came from, but boy, if that's anything close to the actual 2015, I may have to go out and rob a bank or something.

That is true and I am not saying that this does not make it a Mustang but I love the more retro look. I much rather have the S197 look than this:

mine look pretty rectangular to me. parallelograms specifically.

Just because the projectors are round doesn't mean anything.. that's just optics.

So are my headlamps round, or just the projector/lenses round ?

The chrome reflector is round however the main shape is not.

My 13 clearly has round lights, as seen inside the black circle.

Someone else posted here about one of the Ford representatives making that comment within the last 4-6 weeks. I know that representative, and he is a straight shooter, but now since this prototype is out running, I wonder about the validity of that. Perhaps it was a ruse to throw people off the trail.

It could very well be the case with what you say. Seeing these photos and videos of what's out there seems to conflict with it. The camoflauged proportions, as I view them in photos, seem to suggest "new car" as opposed to current style mules.

I see what you mean now, as the main shape of the headlight assembly is all one unit..

Only the reflector/lens portion is round..

That's a projector.

If that's what the requirement is, don't overlook the fact that the headlights on those concepts have round elements in them. i.e. projectors.

This isn't rocket science. The lamps are round, the surrounds and/or bezel are not.

Dennis ! If I understand Danielle's post correctly, I'm assuming it's pointing out the headlamps themselves are not round as in removable like they were in the 78 Mustang II..

If I'm assuming correctly ? then yes the 78 model was the last year to feature round headlamps

What she meant was the whole assembly including the projector which was round like the '78 Mustang, like she pointed out was the last year of the 'round' headlight. However denlem either didn't understand her post or decided to be smarty pants with his reply. Yes the current mustang does employ circular projectors but within a rectangular bezel. I expect the next stang's headlights to look very much like the Evos and perhaps employ semi-circular projectors within.

The bezel/housing is rectangular but the headlights are round. If not, then the 78 would be considered square.
making the 72 the last year.

72

78

For good measure.

My point was that won't be seeing a mustang without projectors again, so we're good to go.

But that's not what you said. You said...

Projectors are headlamps and they are round. Therefore, there have been round headlamps after 1978. That's all that we were pointing out.

So it appears we're all now on the same page about the headlamps/projectors being round, however we also agree the bezels/housings themselves are rectangular..

Therefore technically speaking, the 71-73 Mustang was the last model to feature both round headlights along with the housing/bezels being all the same shape
