I said this somewhere else; Ford should create a camo wrap using the running pony as a way to create some additional hype leading up to the release. Other manufacturers have done clever printed vinyl wraps, and this would be a perfect day to help usher in the 50th anniversary.

I agree on that. Looking back to the 2013 mules, lights were taped off to give a different appearance than what the actually were. It's fun to guess, but sometimes it's not even close!

Look at the size difference. I want the new Mustang size wise to be more like the classics.

Shorter overall height and lower the beltline to what it once was.

Thanks Ford.

My supersize mcdonald cups hardly fit through the window now!! :anger: give us an airier greenhouse!

But really it would be nice to see some of the dementions from the older generation. Everytime i see one from 67-70 i just think its perfectly proportioned. Roofline meshes with the pilars, to the belt/trunk, all the way down to the too-small-looking-tires.
The only other cars id say rank above in beauty would be Pagani, Koenigsegg, the Miura, Stratos, and a couple Ferarri's. in my mind its sittin with some pretty lofty company.
Now if only i could feel the same about the newer generations. I have really high hopes on the 15, and i trust Ford will bring us the absolute BEST it has to offer!

I don't let anyone drink or eat anything in my 10 year old BMW daily driver, never mind my Mustang

As for the dimensions? Whilst we'll never get back to the 60's designs, I think S550 will certainly appear as if it's been to the gym and is now toned, compared to the flabby S197.

Ford is moving away from the classics. Its a new era. A new vision of pony car is being created by Ford. The classics are long gone and retro is coming to an end. For people who want a classic mustang, go buy a classic mustang. People have to stop living in the past and look to the present and future. Your always going to have people that aren't fans of the new design. You have people out there that don't like the current retro design. Don't buy the new design if you don't like it but the beltline that once was, is just that. ONCE WAS! Move forward people!

I don't think trimmer, tighter and airier lines and proportions are necessarily "retro," nor are modern designs doomed to be ever larger, bloated and confining. Some aspects of design are basic and timeless, aspects that I think some earlier Mustangs better exhibited.

Judging by the beefiness of the front brakes (they appear to be fixed, with at least 4 pistons), I'd say that's a GT prototype.

Also, the level of camo suggests that they have a ways to go. We probably won't see it before the end of the year.

I parked my '06 next to a '66 one day and it was like night and day. I assume the Mustang has gotten bigger, heavier due to increased safety standards.

I would like to see the '15 lose a few hundred pounds and be a little smaller dimensionally/visually but retain the same interior size. But how small/light can it realistically get and meet safety standards?

There really aren't any 3000 lbs let alone sub 3000 lbs 4 seat cars anymore.

Partially that, and partially because Americans have gotten fatter dohoho. But seriously, I heard they were shooting for Fox-body like dimensions, so we'll see if they managed to get there. If they manage to get the GT down to like 3400 lbs, that'd be fine with me.

I'm all for moving forward. In an evolutionary way.

I've not heard that before. Parden the pun, but.......fat chance! I suspect we're talking an inch here, an inch there being lost. However, taughter body surfacing might make it look a bit trimmer than S550, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I heard, from a highly credible source, that they are moving to vertical lambo doors and extra cup holders for utility purposes.

True story.

That's the newest word on the street.
