they haven't had round headlamps since 1978.

mine look pretty rectangular to me. parallelograms specifically.

Just because the projectors are round doesn't mean anything.. that's just optics.

Well we do not know when they canceled the design and according to my source they are using the mules to test the IRS and other new 2015 options like the 4 cylinder. He also said that they may not have the car ready for the Charlotte show but will make the Vegas one. Again, this is if my source can be trusted so take what you will form my comment.

It could very well be the case with what you say. Seeing these photos and videos of what's out there seems to conflict with it. The camoflauged proportions, as I view them in photos, seem to suggest "new car" as opposed to current style mules.

If that's what the requirement is, don't overlook the fact that the headlights on those concepts have round elements in them. i.e. projectors.

If I'm assuming correctly ? then yes the 78 model was the last year to feature round headlamps
Dennis ! If I understand Danielle's post correctly, I'm assuming it's pointing out the headlamps themselves are not round as in removable like they were in the 78 Mustang II..

The bezel/housing is rectangular but the headlights are round. If not, then the 78 would be considered square.
making the 72 the last year.
72

78

For good measure.

Projectors are headlamps and they are round. Therefore, there have been round headlamps after 1978. That's all that we were pointing out.

So it appears we're all now on the same page about the headlamps/projectors being round, however we also agree the bezels/housings themselves are rectangular..
Therefore technically speaking, the 71-73 Mustang was the last model to feature both round headlights along with the housing/bezels being all the same shape
