Ford to discontinue V8
Women are fun too. Don't forget the ladies. And if you're married here's the truth. You wonder how smart a move that really was thus calling into question your intelligence and wisdom. Respect and authority are right out the window. Freedom of choice is limited to weather you want to cut the grass or take out the trash. Authority is a fantasy on TV and somebody is always telling you what to do. And money? Yeah right brother. lol

Well not only that but if Ford dropped the V8 and tried to sell just the V6 and ecoboost the same thing would happen. They wouldn't sell enough of them to warrant keeping the car in production. The two cars are dependent on one another to stay in production. This is part of the reason why I personally object to the insult fests between V8 and V6 / ecoboost owners that permeate these forums. None of us would be here without the other. All of us like the same car. It is petulant and childish to insult one another based on what motor is in your Mustang. I'm not calling you out on that laserred. I'm just saying in general.
If Ford wants to include this engine in the Mustang line up ? Fine I personally don't have a problem with it, however If Ford goes ahead with it's supposed plans for killing off the 5.0 Coyote ? Then I'm sorry to say that Ford will lose my business along with many of their long term/repeat customers over to the competition as in the Challenger and Camaro unless of course GM and Mopar follow suit with Ford but I highly doubt that as there's been no mention from either GM or Chrysler about discontinuing their V8 platforms, at least not just yet anyhow..
If Ford is so concerned about meeting the EPA's requirements ? They can accomplish this in other ways by reducing weight, and I'm not referring to engine size.. They can easily reduce weight by either reducing the Mustang's size or they can accomplish this by using the very same aluminum body panels that are now being used on the new 2015 F-150.. Heck if Ford can reduce 700 pounds on a truck, just imagine how much weight could be reduced on the Mustang with aluminum body panels..
Or another way to accomplish this would be to develop a smaller displacement V8 to reduce weight, heck the imports have been using smaller V8's for years, so why in the heck can't Ford do the same ?
Anyhow all I'm trying to point out is this.. At least give those of us who prefer the V8 regardless of whatever reason to continue to offer it at least as an option rather than kill it off altogether

Absolutely, that is exactly what I was advocating for. I think the V8 should be kept. There are too many customers that still want the V8. I wouldn't mind having another V8 Mustang but as a weekend car, not a daily driver.
IMHO & hypothetically speaking I'd be more apt to choose a 4.0 V8 (i.e. Smaller displacement V8 ) over a 3.5 TTV6. :-)

It ain't die hard. It's the only reason most of us buy Mustangs. If the V8 was really done away with, that for me would be the end of the mustang. See there's people who just love the mustang styling or nameplate. People who just want to have a mustang. Then there's people who would never buy a mustang that wasn't a V8. In fact the V8 is the only mustang to us. The only other model that I would consider buying is maybe a 4cyl notchback with full intention of a V8 swap.
I've owned 4 Mustangs so far but I've also owned many GM vehicles (all with V8's). Trust me when I say, if Ford really would drop the V8 out the line up, the mustang would die just like the Capri. The Mustang sales numbers would drop by over half guaranteed.

We are a relatively small market when it comes to sales. People buy them because they are American icons. Most people could give a rats butt what's under the hood.
The V8 will live on. Perhaps as a Hydrogen fueled monster, but it will live on.

Actually the last time I checked the Focus ST easily delivers the same performance level as the V6 Mustang and has a higher top speed if such things are important to you. It's not a bad car at all. I just wouldn't opt for it because it's a four door but that is not the car's fault, it's just my personal preference. I know some ST owners who really like that car and wouldn't have anything else.

All Ford would need to do is revive this engine and update it by adding a couple of turbos along with direct injection and I bet you could expect to see 475-500 HP easily with no problem.. Not only would this engine provide a definite reduction in weight, but would also be more fuel efficient as well
