I think it's funny that the S197 is considered retro. I parked next to a '66 the other day and behind a '67 a while ago and side by side my '06 looks nothing like them. My '96 had just as many styling queues as the current car does.
A VW beetle is retro - it looks very much like the original but the Mustang does not IMHO. I think the Challenger and Camaro look more like their originals than the Mustang does.

I agree, but, I don't think it does in this chop. They're all Ford cues and takes nothing from Aston Martin.
The lights are Mondeo(ish), the grill and bumper are a cross between the latest Focus ST and GT500, the glass house has Mustang all over it, and the rear, well, I don't know where that came from.

I understand that Ford needs to lower the demographic on those who are purchasing Mustangs......but Europeans wanted to own a Mustang (T5 in Germany) because it was a Mustang and not some European look-a-like.

If Ford is expecting to pick up large numbers of sales in Europe, Austrailia, Asia, etc. they are dreaming. Two door coupes/sedans/hardtops have never sold in big numbers outside of the USA. BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, etc. are all premium brands and a Mustang (or any other Ford) is not a premium brand.....if Ford targets these vehicles they are wishful thinking.

Why in the hell is Ford worrying about what anyone outside of the USA wants when it comes to the next Mustang??? I'll bet over 90% of sales of the 2015 and up Mustang will be in North America. If Ford strays too far and the 2015 Mustang doesn't look like a Mustang to the Mustang faithful.....it will be a disaster for Ford.

This isn't 1978 when Ford was phasing out the Mustang II in favor of the Fox bodied 1979 Mustang and almost everyone wanted to see the Mustang II go. Ford will never again sell 300,000 Mustangs in a model year as they did back then.
