for the really talented the idea of this current platform should be dropped, retro fox anyone? that would be the biggest homerun ford ever hit!

Before we start "Hacking & Wacking"
Lets do a little marketing research. I'll start it off with a few items that I like and the rest of you add to it. I know not everyone will agree but majority rules. Then we start design.
18' wheels
5 spoke rims
no windshield washers on the hood
05 style tail lights
no fake rear gas cap
side scoops (functional)
window louvers
end the side style line at the side scoop
change hood back toward 05 design
don't go for aerodyamics in the front of the car.
functional rocker panels (ground effects)
extend front of car 3 inches
chin spoiler
functional rear spoiler
price $35,000

5 spoke rims - Check
no windshield washers on the hood - Check
05 style tail lights - Maybe Check
no fake rear gas cap - Disagree
side scoops (functional) - No Chance, functional How? Brake ducts, I don't think so
window louvers - 1970 called, it wants it's styling back, no way!!
end the side style line at the side scoop - Check
change hood back toward 05 design - Disagree
don't go for aerodyamics in the front of the car. - Why not?? stylish and functional/faster
functional rocker panels (ground effects) - functional how. They have to be really low to divide the wind from under the car.
extend front of car 3 inches - Vehemently disagree! the mustang needs to reduce it's overhange not increase it. That is horrible for balance, control, aero, etc. Now if you are talking push the front wheels 3 inches forward, we can talk!
chin spoiler - meh, don't care
functional rear spoiler - meh, don't care. to functionally need a spoiler you need enough lift generated by the rear of the care to neccessitate downforce beyond the weight of the car.
price $35,000 - too steep in my opinion, but sadly realistic.

05 style tail lights - Maybe Check. I'll work with you on this. But not pinched off 09 taillights
no fake rear gas cap - Disagree. I'm sorry but marketing agrees with me.
side scoops (functional) - Brake ducts
window louvers - 1970 called, it wants it's styling back, no way!! OK but I like them
end the side style line at the side scoop - Check
change hood back toward 05 design - Disagree. OK but not the 03/04 slopping hood
don't go for aerodyamics in the front of the car. - OK but it will have to go thru the marketing team
functional rocker panels (ground effects) - They have to be really low to divide the wind from under the car. Again rear brake cooling

Only two seats
Hood vents (not ramair) functional not stick on
Lower OAH 20mm.
price $35,000 - too steep in my opinion, but sadly realistic.
As far as I can see the Green rendering looks pretty much like a Camaro with a horse badge. The Italian rendering is a good starting point.

no fake rear gas cap - Disagree. I'm sorry but marketing agrees with me. whose marketing? The 2010 went over the top as far as size went, but the addition of it was overwhelmingly positive on the outgoing model. I agree 2010 is too big, but the 05 had a nice look to it.
side scoops (functional) - Brake ducts not going to happen. venting the rear brakes provides nearly no benefit since the majority of the braking duties are handled by the fronts. not to mention cost to engineer and install would increase driving the price yet higher. But it would be cool
don't go for aerodyamics in the front of the car. - OK but it will have to go thru the marketing team every mustang goes through a marketing team including mustang enthusiasts. we had several posts from guys who had been invited to appraise the 2010, but had to sign nondisclosures, so they couldn't really give us detailed information.
unctional rocker panels (ground effects) - They have to be really low to divide the wind from under the car. Again rear brake cooling How?
Only two seats I guarantee you marketing does not support this one at all. If anything there is a customer push to expand the rear bench to accommodate three buckles.
Hood vents (not ramair) functional not stick on
Lower OAH 20mm. OAH= Over All Height??? Not enough, it needs at least an inch if not two.

This Guy has a pretty interesting take on the Giugiaro Mustang:
A tad ricy for my taste, but some interesting possibilities.
