What I want most from sync system is more language supporting. Actually, according to some auto news I read last year, Europe ford added 19 languages to sync. Why do we only get english, spenish, french?

But the guinea pigs like us that bought into Fords new "infotainment" system still get screwed??? This is absolutely ridiculous! I guess unless you are buying Fords latest product they could care less about your car. Thanks for looking after your loyal customers.
We haven't forgot about you! This upgrade is intended to correct known concerns within the MyFord/MyLincoln Touch system. The engineers who work on this project are different from those who work on the first generation SYNC system.

I guess the latest one on 2012s.
If the handsfree phone part works, I guess Siri should also be able to use Fords mic for input and speaker system for output?
Also can Siri be activated by one of the steering wheel controls.
Holding down the key for 2secs instead of a quick 1 sec push?
I don't have all the details, but to see what other users are saying, check out:

Thanks for thinking of me, overboost!

I don't have an ETA for update availability at this time, but I'll post as soon as I hear something.

Software versions vary between build dates as well as model years.

If you currently have 3.1, that's the latest. If you have 3.2, there's an update to 3.2.2 and for the 2012 owners the most up-to-date version is 4.0.2.

To further clarify, 3.2.2 does not add the AppLink feature. AppLink is only available on the 2012 models at this time. In regards to text messaging, capability is dependent on your phone. In order for a phone to be compatible, it must support Message Access Profile (MAP).

Let me know if you have any questions.

So if I understand those of us with 2011 mustangs have no update yet and we don't know when that update will be available. When it is available it won't allow use of applink!?!?

Do we know if there is a plan to allow 2011 mustangs to get actually current level software, for example...applink? As I think that's the update most are looking for...

Thanks for coming on here and keeping us informed. It's nice that Ford is doing that right. Now it would be nice if they could give us reasonable software updates.

I'm curious how different the hardware powering the Navi/EP system is between the 2011 and 2012 MY vehicles. If not, I'd happily pay for a software upgrade (much happier about that than paying yearly for maps).

This puzzles me too. I can't understand why 2011 with 3.1 is current yet in the same breath there is version 3.2.2 which by general standards should be better than 3.1 (it's a bigger number), and then oh wait there is even a 4.0.2 which is bigger than the previous 2 and we have only moved 1 model year yet neither is compatable with the next!!!

Surely Ford didn't change hardware every other month??

I am so so pee'd with Ford over sync updates and particulary Nav updates (which are non-existant) and that for $3000+ option and 2012 the best Ford can offer is a 2010 database for the Nav. I certainly will never be getting a Nav or anything again from Ford I get better service by just buying a Garmin.

The sad thing is that we've been told for months that the 2011-10 owners haven't been forgotten and that they're working on getting an update for our systems but there's not an ETA for it. They haven't even said what the update would be if there was one. Would we go to 3.2.2? 4.0.2? Would it be available for people with navigation systems or just those with the standard Sync?

We're getting upset because the lack of information makes Ford sound like they're just spouting empty promises. That and the fact that some people live in neighborhoods that didn't even exist when the last map update was released.

That's a very good point... The #1 feature I want is AppLink. I am not asking for MyFord touch (though it would be nice to see manufacturers supporting older models like Apple does) and I'm willing to pay for it, since it's a new feature. Now, the 'update' that's coming out for our systems with no ETA is supposedly not even getting AppLink??

Hey everyone -

I can't speculate and I don't have a timeline, but I do pass along your feedback. As I obtain new info, I'll be sure to share it with you!

Your only option is to buy another phone. Don't blame Ford, this is on Apple's end, not theirs.

Im amazed that your razr was still going! There is a beautiful new Droid RAZR on it's way...it is quite the phone!
Now that ios6 is out and supports MAP can we blame Ford now??

No...it's probably an Apple user error lol

Did you delete your profile off sync and re-sync your phone?

Don't expect it to send messages though as I don't think Apple designed it to send messages.

My post was more directed at Ford then you. I have deleted profiles, deleted bluetooth connections with nothing. As it looks according to another thread it has to do with the non update for 2010-2011 nav units from what I understand.

I also can't get it to do anything, sync still says my phone is not compatible.
