Got my new "Flip Key" set up tonight
I've done both. The keyless entry worked on the first try. But I have tried many times to program it to pats but it just won't program.
In that case either you key fob is bad or was already programed to work with a different car. It is a one time deal from what I heard. Ask for a replacement.
Same guy... mine said Boss 302... and the ink was bleeding as if I printed them on an old printer. And then they did have the nice gel coat over the print... which flattened the back making it where they did not adhere to a concave surface. at least it was only $6.
The following is the adhesion promoter I meant (from post #35). Have you tried this to get the sticker to stay?
Lol.
Had them made by Andres: http://stores.ebay.com/Stickers-3D
Paid $6 for eight of them. He's in Spain, so it'll take about a week.
Specify 14mm, smaller gel (more flexible).
If you take a good look you'll see the surface the sticker will mount to is not flat, but domed, which creates some difficulty for sticker to remain adhered, I've had success using 3m adhesive promoter: http://r.ebay.com/1wMnqS

I'm interested in doing this mod.
Have you guys experienced any negative side effects going to the aftermarket flip keys? I've noticed people saying so far that the key needs to be inserted a certain way, etc? I don't want to have to fiddle with it every time I start the car.
Also people have said that the trunk takes longer to pop? How about the range vs. the factory fob?
Thanks!

Another thing that I had to get used to is the way you hold the key. Hard to explain but the key is parallel to the short side of the fob, not the long side. So if you hold it in your hand like your old key you will have to rotate your hand 90 degrees for it to go into the ignition.

I haven't noticed any issues with popping the trunk.
The range is worse than stock, but not by much. The stock range is pretty terrible to begin with...
I consider those issues to be very slight, and I've never regretted this purchase.
I have no lasting problems with mine other than for a short while, the car "forgot" the remote part. The key still opened the doors and started the car, but the remote buttons wouldn't open or lock the car. However, locking and unlocking the doors a few times back-to-back with the key (not remote) "fixed" it. No problems since. Range is great. Way better than the stock fobs on my Firebird.
The key I have (for the Mustang) is a replica of a Mazda Key.
Others on here have used a replica of a VW/Audi Key.
My brother has an Audi S4 and I didn't want to have the same key as him. I wanted to have something different. So they couldn't be confused.

Yes, I used the ebay seller mentioned earlier in this thread. I found the image online and sent him a message thru ebay to see if he would use it to make the decal. It took about 2 weeks or so after I bought it on ebay before I received it in the mail from Spain. Not a bad deal.
Just got back from getting my key cut at the lock smith. The key works great. The trunk button has a slightly longer delay but its not an issue for me. The running horse sticker is a perfect fit. The website for te logo stickers is www.all3dstickers.com
All in all this is a really cool aftermarket key and the price was nice.
$25 for the key
$4 for the cut
$5 to program
$6 for the 8 pack of logos
Grand total of $40.00 👍
Dealers charge about $225 for and oem key without the flip key part.

Seeing this post back at the top of the page made me go check out flip keys on ebay. It looks like there are 3 new designs since the last time I looked for them.
NEW GT STYLE FLIP KEY REMOTE FOR 2011-14 FORD MUSTANG CLICKER CHIP KEYLESS ENTRY
CHROME FLIP KEY REMOTE FOR 07-14 FORD MUSTANG CHIP KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER FOB
New Style FORD 07-14 MUSTANG FLIP CHIP KEY KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER REMOTE KFM
I might try out that one in the first link.

Received my new flip key from the auction listed above. I have to say that this is the flip key I wanted from the beginning. Had it cut this morning and programmed it right after. Works just as well as my other flip key. If you have $40 burning a hole in your pocket, then this key is the one to get.
I had to take the key apart so the guy could cut it but it was pretty easy to do. If you pay attention to how you took it apart, it's easy to put it back together.
